Hello guys, i have a problem with my midi keyboard. My PC doesn't recognize the USB connection and i can't find any solution.

Well first start by verifying USB port works by plugging in a hard drive or something thus proving you have a good port and USB Cable. At which point hook the keyboard up ( and make sure to properly install drivers provided on cd with purchase) being a pc this may take several attempts to install. What software are you trying to control? Reason? Logic? Fruityloops?

1 Answer

I'm using an oxygen 49 midi controller with ableton and it seems to work fine for a while and suddenly if I begin to mess with other parts of ableton, let's say another midi track the controller...

There are several reasons why this could be happening, assuming it's Windows, not MAC.

-Check to make sure the OUT port isn't set. You only need IN for basic controller use.
- Make sure the channel your using is armed (button below Solo & Mute should be red) [this is the most likely problem]

Another problem is the USB power settings in Windows. The default is set to allow the Computer to monitor and turn off USB ports automatically to save power. But it doesn't turn them back on automatically. You'll want change these settings regardless to help reduce latency issues.

-Go to Device Manager> USB Controllers> double click & change power settings to OFF for all Root Hubs.

Here is a guide to help optimize Windows to lessen Latency, Dropouts and Clicks /Pops. It's for Studio One, but the settings are the same for Windows.

You might want to give Studio One a try. I've used everything and by far Studio One is the easiest with the least issues. The free version is better than most DAWS paid versions. It can definitely help eliminate a lot of the everyday headaches that come with using Abelton, Cubase, Protools and even FruityLoops (which is pretty gay anyway).

M-Audio is also notorious for USB hardware related issues. A lot of times I find it turns out to be a bad connection between the plug and keyboard port, which tends to wear after awhile. It can go unnoticed because it still fits tight enough to get power, but not enough to keep the board fully functional.

Hope this helps.

I have FL studio 9 and i cant get Absynth 5 to work with it. how would i go about doing so?

if absynth is a program u need to install do this,

install absynth, after that go in to fl and go channels>more, down the bottom click safe refresh, then absynth should be in the list,

if you have dll. file for absynth do this

place it in >C:>programfiles>imageline>fl9>in the folders find plugins. paste dll. in there, go to channels and refresh..

I'm trying to use a new program called Fruityloops 8 XXL edition, and I cannot figure out how to take sounds from different channels and put them on a playlist in order to tweak different tracks or play...

i have fl9 xxl producers edition, check me out www.reverbnation.com/timcpatc,
first, next to the play stop buttons is a "pat" and "song".
click song, if you look right of tempo it has number 1, <take notice. now you click the very left button in this pic, (the playlist) find the line with number one and left click so it looks like thisb122beb.jpg
    e237ec0.jpg

exit the playlist and right click on the instrument u wanto use, click send to piano roll, thats where you put your notes,.make a tune or drum loop.this will go into the playlist number 1 chanel. go to the number one o the right of the tempo, (it has pat under it) an chang it to 2, open playlist, put a block like you did in pattern , right click the instro u want to use, send to piano roll, make ya tune, this will go into playlist number 2 chanel, in the playlist place them where you want them by the way. every time you go to piano roll and put a tune or something in that instrument will link to the pattern number and the pattern number links t the playlist. left click on the little oval ligh light next your instrument and make them all light up green, when u have done that go to to the icon next to playlist an choose view mixer, and right click on the Chanel next to master (insert 1),link to selected channels, click starting from...
now on the very right click of mixer where ther is numbers, click the arrow so a dropdown menu appears, pick your effect. (highlight what instrument you want to add an effect to in the mixer.) generaly not for master unless the effectss are compressoors soungoodizers and eqs and stuff, ( mastering tools) HOPE THIS HELPED
