Im not sure which model your gateway is but this solution has been know to work for some models. Follow these steps to recalibrate the battery.

  1. Disconnect the AC adapter
  2. Turn on the notebook computer.
  3. As soon as it starts and you see a startup screen, press the F2 key.
  4. In the BIOS Setup Utility, use the TAB key to select the Advanced menu.
  5. From the Advanced menu, select Smart Battery Calibration, and then press the ENTER key. When prompted, start the recalibration program.
  6. After the battery has been fully discharged and your notebook computer has turned itself off, re-connect the AC adapter and fully recharge your battery.
Recharging may take several hours. After the battery finishes recharging, the battery meter displays the accurate battery charge.

How long for battery recharging D610 ?

when the computer is turned off, the AC adapter charges a completely discharged battery to 80 percent in about 1 hour and to 100 percent in approximately 2 hours. Charge time is longer with the computer turned on. You can leave the battery in the computer for as long as you like. The battery's internal circuitry prevents the battery from overcharging. So About 2 to 3 hrs

When you connect the computer to an electrical outlet or install a battery while the computer is connected to an electrical outlet, the computer checks the battery charge and temperature. If necessary, the AC adapter then charges the battery and maintains the battery charge.
If the battery is hot from being used in your computer or being in a hot environment, the battery may not charge when you connect the computer to an electrical outlet.

My nokia 2700 battery is draining very fast

This is usually because it has reached the end of its life or has a bad cell internally. Cell phone batteries are designed to last just about two years and then the service provider coincidentally doesn't carry them anymore forcing you to upgrade. This is part of the scam cell phone companies pull on customers. Its max charge is lower than it used to be so when you charge it to 100%, its really only 100 percent of its now lower capacity. Think if it like this, you fill you water bottle to 100% so its full. Every time you use it, its an inch shorter. So the next time you fill it, its filled to 100% capacity but its still less water because its only 100 percent of smaller size. Same thing with batteries, as they age, their full capacity becomes smaller. I would go to Amazon and do a search for a battery for that phone. I did this with my Droid X and got one for $7.

Why doesn't my hp notebook charge?

If the laptop battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be worn out. Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles and will lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% and gradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up at all. OR The battery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected the battery drops off to zero capacity in a very short time. If the battery drops to an unacceptable charge level then the battery needs to be replaced. Rechargeable batteries will fail if stored in a discharged state for long periods.
