Defrost timer location on a kenmore refridgerator model 10645492400

I don't think your model number is correct in most cases your defrost timer or adaptive defrost board is located wherever your temperature controls are.

I can't find the wiring diagram for my whirlpool refridgerator.... MOD.#ET19RKXFN01 SER.#EG3222178. Can you please help. I need to change the defrost timer.....Thanks

I will try to locate a wiring diagram for your model ET19RKXFN01 but to change the defrost timer you will only need to know its location. Here is a link to the repair parts=> ET19RKXFN01_Repair_Parts_List
Go to page 5 of the repair parts list and you will see item number 4 Then on page 6 of the parts list you will see the timer part number beside the item 4. That is your defrost timer part number 2193084 Defrost Timer

Your refrigerator is an older model and may have the wiring digram in a packet behind the kick plate in the front near floor. Changing the defrost timer will not require use of a wiring diagram. Simply remove the old timer and replace the new defrost timer by plugging it into the wiring harness. The defrost timer can be found behind the control panel inside the fresh food compartment where the controls are located above the top shelf. If you have questions just let me know, Thanks Sea Breeze

Were is the defrost timer located on an amana model ARB1914CW refridgerator

Hi.

The defrost control is located between the two lights on the ceiling of the fresh food section. If you use a mirror you'll see the timer shaft through the access hole.

Hope that helps.

The refridgerator is not staying cold. The

DEFROST PROBLEM
The evaporator coil behind the cover on the back wall inside the freezer will ice up under normal conditions. Every 8 to 10 hours for around 20 minutes the defrost timer (or in most newer models the electronic adaptive defrost control) will turn the defrost heater on to melt the built up ice. There is a defrost thermostat which prevents the heater from overheating the freezer by breaking the heater circuit when the temp reaches close to 32 degrees F. The entire cooling system shuts off during the defrost cycle and starts back when the timer advances through the cycle.

If this ice is not melted it will continue to build up until the air can’t flow over the coil to circulate the cold air through the freezer and into the fridge. The temperature change in the fridge is usually noticed first followed by the freezer.

If the defrost thermostat is bad, it can prevent the heater from coming on OR it won’t turn the heater off when it gets too warm. It is clamped to the evaporator coil at the top to sense the temp. If it appears to be misshapen it is bad.
With an ohm meter it should show continuity when cold and none when warm.
You can also bypass(disconnect the two wires plugged into it and twist them together) the thermostat to see if the heater comes on then. If it does then you know the thermostat is bad and needs replaced.

The defrost heater is located on the evaporator. It is in a tube which is at the bottom and can also go up the sides of the evaporator. On some types you can see a burnt spot if it’s bad. With an ohm meter it should show continuity from end to end when disconnected from the wiring in the freezer. You can also test the wiring for voltage when it’s in the defrost mode.

If you have a defrost timer you can test it. It can be located under the fridge behind the kick panel on the front. Some are in the fridge with the controls at the top. You can turn the defrost timer till it clicks and everything shuts down. The heater should now come on. If it does, replace the timer because that means the timer is not running. If it doesn't, check the heater and defrost thermostat. Turn the timer again till everything starts back up to end the defrost cycle.

If you have an adaptive defrost control instead of a timer, replace it if the heater and thermostat test good. It is located in the fridge with the controls in some models and on the back in others. You can post your model number into one of several appliance parts sites on the internet and search for defrost components to find your parts.

Running to cold, after while evaporator coils are packed with ice even defrost timer ,termostat and heaters are new.

Hello, Most likely you have a bad defrost timer, If you have a mechanical defrost timer it will normally be located either in the control panel inside the fridge or behind the panel beneath the doors. To test this once you have found the timer advance it to the defrost cycle and the wait to see if the heater makes a spitting noise. If the defrost cycle fires up then the timer is bad and you should replace it. If you have a digital defrost timer it will be a circuit board located in a panel behind the refridgerator. locate the tech sheet behind the panel under the doors and force it into the defrost cycle...once again if the defrost cycle kicks in your going to have to replace the circuit board. If you have any other questions please feel free to comment again. Mike

Freezer side of refridgerator doesn't freeze foods properly and also makes only about 10 cubes a day. food side works fine, it's a Hotpoint model #HSS251FMB WW

If freezer is icing up, you might have a defrost problem. Frost free models have a heating element that is controlled by a timer to automatically defrost ice, defrost timer turns on defrost heating element every 12 hours to melt ice in freezer and allow good air flow.
You can test defrost element with an ohm meter(located inside freezer coils-will have two wires going to a plug connection), if OK replace defrost timer (located in various places depending on make and model

thumbs up
