Go to My computer and open the folders from the DVD drive. Sometimes the autoinstall function doesn't work and you actually have to go into the folder and run setup from there. Let me know how you get along :)

When I use the timer to record a TV show with my DVD-R155, unit locks up.

If you can afford it purchase a TIVO. I had a a video and dvd player and it drove me mad. This unit records 2 programs at once with just the press of a button.
you can watch tv at the same time. Also you can rewind situations on live tv to watch it again. Top unit. I am 73 and I have no problem using it. Love it!

The DVD ROM does not show on my computer folder because of that it does not play any CD or DVD

  • Hello samuelb26, the most likely reason that the Computer do not recognize the "DVD ROM; is because, it may not have been installed properly, and the other is that the "Hardware & Software Drivers wasn't loaded at the initial installation of the OS." If this is the case then do the following: From the "Start Menu, [right click] to open the Computer Properties, or by clicking on the 'My Computer', if on your "Desktop." Check to see if there's a DVD RW Drive (D:) in the "Device with Removable Storage area." If the area is (Blank)? Click on the "Start Button," open the All Programs, and scroll to find the Media Disk Player. You made need to (Setup) your player, just open the Disk Player 'shortcut' and choose to "Setup / Install the Disk Player. Follow all the instructions while doing so. Remember to click on the Apply and OK buttons when finished, and lastly, restart the computer. "I hope this information is helpful, thank you for using FixYa." paul7of9

How do i set my toshiba laptop back to manufacturing settings without losing my windows 7 home premium

Unless you did a full system backup when after you loaded Windows 7 Home Premium, you will not be able to restore the system back to factory settings without losing W7HP.
Why are you trying to restore the laptop back to factory settings?

Or try this-
  1. Place a blank media disc into the appropriate optical drive.
  2. Click the Start button and in the Search programs and files field, type system repair disc , and then press the Enter key. LoadImage('png60589.png','Block BorderSolid','','','Search programs and files') png60589.png
  3. In the Create a system repair disc window, click the Create disc button. LoadImage('png61020.png','Block BorderSolid','','','Create a system repair disc') png61020.png
NOTE: In the Drive field, the appropriate optical drive should have been displayed automatically. If your computer has more than one optical drive capable of burning to blank media, you can click the down arrow and then click to select a different drive.
  4. When the Using the system repair disc window appears, remove the disc from the optical drive, follow the on-screen instructions to label the disc appropriately, and then click the Close button.
  5. In the Create a system repair disc window, click the OK button.

Hi there.

When you turn the laptop on, keep pressing Alt+F10. This should open the recovery program. Follow the on-screen instructions for factory settings.

Let me know if this does/doesn't work.

New DVD w/message the DVD is not blank!!

I have a new HP Pavilion Ultimate - d49967 - Desktop PC. The program is HPs "Create backup copies of your files/folders."

When I try to format the disk the dialog box does not appear to allow choices. I then tried to use the disk and that is when I was told the "disk is not blank." I purchased the package containing the disks yesterday and opened the package today.

Thank you for your help. Silly Clown

Pc will not open any disks, software etc

Sounds like you might have an issue with the hardware. I had a similar issue about a year ago. turned out it was just by chance that I lost the DVD drive after I loaded a new software package for DVD movies. So check to make sure your DVD will play any disk and let me know what you find.
