Question about Kitchen Ranges

1 Answer

I am getting an F-1 error code on the display of my Kenmore model 911.4698810 range. Pushing the OVEN CANCEL button resets the display for 15 seaconds and then the F-1 error code returns. I can semi-permanently stop the error code from displaying by pushing the BAKE or BROIL button and not setting a temperature. Three dashes appear where the temperature would be displayed (which is normal). Sometimes even this does not work after a few days and sometimes an F-2 error code appears. Tom

Part of my problem description is missing. I turned on the oven this afternoon and set the temperature at 350 F. After 15 to 20 minutes the F-5 error code appeared.

I also asked if you could recommend a low cost source for the clock control and other parts. Hope you might be able to help with this.

You mentioned testing the resistance to see if it read 1100 ohms. Where do I find the test points for my multimeter?

Is the 1100 ohm sensor the oven temperature sensor?

  • atoms61 Mar 11, 2011

Thanks. You have been great help. I found a much cheaper oven/clock control at the web site you gave me. There was a monster 8.9 earthquake in Japan a couple hours ago and this one looks bad. I live in Honolulu. They are evacuating the near shore areas, shutting down airports and getting ready. I'm up in the mountains but we may have electricity for only 4 more hours. After that....who knows. You will hear about this one soon.

Yes...I was able to get answers to all my questions.

We were very lucky here in Hawaii. Almost no damage that I know of. Right after I wrote that note to you, I was out the door with 7 empty gas cans to fill up. I managed to beat the long lines that were starting to form as I was filling up. All our power stations are right on the shore so they could easily be knocked out by a tsunami. Got my parts ordered. Wish me luck. Thanks for the guidance.

F1 error code shows that there is a failed transistor on your oven in order to sort it out you require to change ERC (electronic range control
F2 error code shows oven temp too high in order to sort it out.
1 Test operation of door lock on self-clean models. 2. Test relay contact operation. 3. High resistance in sensor (should be about 1100 ohms)

F5 also represent failed ERC. You can get your parts from the link provided below.

Remember your ovens brand is roper because kenmore is not a manufacturer the original manufacturer of your 911 oven is roper.

I heard about this yesterday night that japan was pertinent to be hit by an earthquake. That was around 20 hrs back. I simply commented "I think earthquakes shall abolish". I wasn't aware about the actual facts at that time.

The F10 error code means that the computer thinks a button on the touchpad is stuck. Sometimes this can be resolved by making sure the touchpad connector fits tight into the control board. The F10 code can be cleared by pushing CANCEL/OFF. If it returns the touchpad needs to be replaced .

I have a Kenmore Range Model 95012102. After canceling the self cleaning oven process the code E1-F5 appeared on the display panel and the oven remains locked.

The F5-E1 error code means that one of the switches on the door latch hasn't fully set itself to the door open(non clean) mode. One thing to try is to open the oven door and push the light switch in by hand while pushing the clean button on the control and see if the latch will open just a little more thusly the switch will open a bit more into the normal mode.

If by pushing the clean button...waiting 5 minutes (whith the door open)then push cancel and see if the latch fully opens..the door latch switch would need to be replaced.

The part number for the latch asm. which includes the switch is W10107820

I am not sure what model of Kenmore Gas Range I have but I get an F10 error and unable to turn on the oven.

Hello Edgar,
The F10 error code means that function key (bake/broil/clean ect) on the touchpad is defective. Sometimes just making sure that the ribbon cable on the touchpad is connected tight into the control board.
The error code could be cleared by pushing CANCEL/OFF button..if error code returns the touchpad would need to be replaced.

This is the Sabbath feature on my Kenmore Elite Electric Slide in Range. My oven manual says to press both the (timed oven) "cook time" button and the "delay start" button at the same time for approx. 3 seconds and this should shut down the feature. I had the same problem, tried the above and it worked.

E1-F1 error on Kenmore Range

A persistant F1 error code usually means that the oven has exceeded the safe maximum operating temperature for the oven.

This is usually due to a faulty oven thermostat unit.

If the error code reappears after using the oven you should get the thermostat replaced.

My kenmore oven is beeping and will not stop. the display shows F-1.

Please use the chart to determine which stove you have. You will have to look at the model number. The first 3 numbers will be the series on the chart. In most cases an F1 error would require replacment of the electronic control. This part is commonly refered to as an EOC or ERC. However this type of repair is usually reserved for repair specialists.

KENMORE Range/Stove/Oven Fault Codes – 362 Series (General Electric)
F1 = Stuck Touch Pad Key - Replace Electronic Range Control (ERC).

KENMORE - 911 Series (General Electric/Roper)
F0-F1-FF = Failed transistor in Electronic Range Control (ERC).

KENMORE Range/Stove/Oven Fault Codes- 665 Series (Whirlpool)
F1-E0 EPROM Error - Electronic Range Control (ERC).
F1-E1 EPROM Error - Electronic Range Control (ERC).
F1-E2 U/L ERC Errors - Electronic Range Control (ERC).
F1-E3 Fuel Type Fail

Kill power 30 seconds-Cancel-Start/Enter-5 seconds-Should see “E” for electric-
“9” for gas-If code changes again-replace Electronic Range Control (ERC).

KENMORE - 790 Series Electronic Oven Control (Frigidaire)
F1 = Shorted Touch Pad = Electronic Range Control (EOC) Internal checksum error.
Runaway Temp = Replace Electronic Oven Control (EOC).

Kill power 30 seconds - if error returns - replace Electronic Oven Control (EOC).

Kenmore oven locked after celf cleaning

The E1- F5 error is a door lock error.

The control (TIMER) has likely failed in this instance - BUT...

Sometimes when you disconnect power to a range and reconnect it the electronic range control gets confused.
You should disconnect power again for 15 seconds and reconnect and see if that helps.

If it doesn't cure the E1- F5 error hold the bake button in until E0- F2 appears in the display.
This is the error for a stuck button on the keypad and is the way to clear the memory of the electronic range control.

Sometimes these work, but if the control has failed it won't make any difference.
