I looked in my manual, it says that C4 means that the thread is tangled or there bobbin was interrupted forcibly. Turn off and totally rethread your machine with presser foot up, insert a new needle and try again. Do this test, with the presser foot up, pull top thread, it should move easily, now lower presser foot, pull thread, it should barely move. This should seat the thread in the tension discs properly. I have this same machine, and love it.
has your bobbin case started to rattle? mine has I tried my best to adjust it and found it wasnt hitting the spring correctly. Now that I have fixed that problem it is now tangling all the thread underneath. I have done everything 50 times to make sure it wasnt the way I was threading the machine and it is still doing it!!!! Im starting to think I would have rather dealt with the loud rattling noise!! Anyone have any clues on this please tell me! Ive checked everywhere and am about to throw the machine across the room!
Mine did this also 1 month after purchase, and the wheel is very tight! have had 3 different people look at it. the 1st was only authorized singer repair man near me, he sounded like he was 100 years old, and acted like he never seen a machine like this, and only offered me a trade on an older machine! the next said she thought is was in the power panel, and the cost for that was higher than a new one. the third needed $30.00 to even look at it, and because it was so tight thought there was thread locked up under the bobbin winder, that wasnt it, i looked. was so excited about this machine, made payments too get it, and cant afford to fix it. of course singer wanted me to send it back in, and im sure they would charge me cuz it was a "Refurbished machine, and out of warranty by the time i could have sent it back, not to mention shipping charges!! Was told singer is not the company it used to be! Have had many people tell me they would never buy a singer again, and to look into a brother! ive borrowed my sisters older model singer, and it is loud and rattles all over the place! I sure would like to use my new singer but unless anybody knows how to fix it my self, or where i can have it repaired for $50.00 or under near south bend ind, its worthless!
I have a 7258 which was very stiff. Turned out to be the right bearing on the main shaft had frozen to the shaft, and was rotating with the shaft in its housing. Apparantly the bearing had not been properly lubricated at the factory. I reimpregnated it with proper oil, reinstalled it and machine turns over very easily. but still get the C4 error. Anything that could cause the C4 error has been corrected, Is there any way to reset that error to ge the machine to run again?
What manual do you have? Mine has no information whatsoever about any error codes. None. It has a very brief troubleshooting section, the shortest section of the manual, but absolutely no mention of any error codes.
