Problem for Sony DVP-NS355 DVD Player

OT: Ghosting Problem

By 2Pansy - usenet poster

" "
I have a JVC AV32P10EK (100mhz and NTSC compatable) and I am having a few
problems with picture quality playing DVD's.

I have a Sony DVP-NS355 Multi-region DVD Player and it works fine with
Region 2 DVD's but when I play Region 1 DVD's I get ghosting on the screen.

Now I used to run this on a Samsung 709 with no problems at all but I did
notice that on the back of the Samsung the output was set to PAL (a physical
switch), but the Sony does not have this, instead now the TV readjusts
itself to play NTSC (its as if the resolution has been changed as all menus
on the TC get smaller)

Any suggestions to fix this problem would be appreciated.

Kind regards

Michael Bates

Defo sounds like 100hz processing or picture processing ontop of that.
Fiddle with the 100hz options and see what you can do.

It could be phosphor discharge delay too, I notice a slight ghost image on
the menu of ST TOS bridge, captains chair leaves a very slight trail.
Noticeable because of bright object with dark background. This is a 50hz
set.

Turn your contrast well below 50%

Sort brightness out also.

Sorry should have been clearer, "ghosting" only happens when an image moves
quickly, ie. man running upstaris, turning head quickley etc.

Have you tried unpluggimg your RF coaxial cable from the arial socket on
your TV? I get really bad ghosting when playing DVDs until I unplug mine - I
was told it was interference between this and the scart leads. Maybe you can
get sheilded cable?

Regards,

Matthew.
