Question about Denon AVR-2807 Receiver

1 Answer

My AVR-2807 has worked fine for 4 years but recently the sound goes off when watching cable TV. I have HDMI running from the receiver to TV and basic cables from the cable box to the receiver. The DVD sound works fine. I'm hoping that something isn't fried in the motherboard as it is stored in a rack system that only has vents in the back and it gets a bit warm.

Hi

If the Receiver is not properly ventilated, then it will get overheated and will not work as expected. I suggest you to keep the Receiver properly ventilated so that all the sides and top areas are having enough space.
Now, remove and reconnect all the connected cables to make sure that the connections are firm and secure. As the DVD audio works fine through the Receiver, it seems that the Receiver is working fine. Based on the information you've provided, it seems that the issue may be with the connected cable box or the cables. Please try swapping or changing the cables and check if it works.

Please get back to us if you require any further assistance after performing the steps.

Thanks for using FixYa.

No sound from Russound ss-4 after connecting to BACK surround speaker connections on the 2807.

Check the speaker setup configuration in the setup menu. Many times the surround back speaker terminals can be assigned to something else like zone 2. They may just be turned off.

How do I get audio from my tv to my receiver through an hdmi cable? AVR 2807

Your tv needs to have an HDMI out. If it has just connect that to the Denon. Tv might not have HDMI out so connect an optical cable from the tv's optical out to the Denon's optical in.

Pc connection to denonAVR 2807 receiver

ideally you would use an HDMI video cable but few video cards support that standard yet.

Your next best choice is to use a DVI to HDMI connection cable. They work very well as the video signal is the same between the two the only difference is that a DVI cable does not support sound so you will have to use a 3.5mm stereo (male) to RCA cable for sound.

Now there could be complications there as your receiver may not be able to display a video images off the hdmi cable while combining sound from the analog cable.

Some computer video cards have an RCA or s-video output and that will work BUT the picture quality is going to be bad, real bad.

a better option is to find a device that allows you to connect to your network to view images and videos. There are a number of such devices such as x-box 360, Tivo series 3 etc..

Hope that heps point you in the right direction

Can't get the sound to work on my TV using the Denon AVR-2807

In the 2807 the HDMI out is a video out only. Audio is not processed through the HDMI output.
If you are using speakers it is best to adjust the playback modes to stereo if you are annoyed with surround sound modes.
Please comment if I helped.

I have a denon avr-2807 receiver. on tv mode, i can only get analog signals. i am using an optical cable and the signal is only transmitted in digital. how can i correct this?

An optical cable is digital but its only audio not video. Are you connected to a cable or satellite box, are you using composit video, s-vid, component video, or hdmi? What kind of cable goes from your denon to your tv?

There is a video select button on the receiver. Press it and it toggles through all of the video sources. Keep pressing it until the display says video=source.

Loss of sound on the Denon AVR 2807 a/v surround receiver when I turn on and off lights in my house

Finally the problem was with the HDMI cable. When I pushed it in on the TV set the problem disappeared. It seems the connections must be quite firm on the HDMI cables otherwise anything may interfere to the sound.
