You may try using mozilla firefox as an alternative to ie. it's free and just as easy to use as ie. i myself have adheard many problems with ie and believe it to be programing conflicts. although microsoft and norton would have to resolve those issues.

i had a similar prob some 1yr bak. bt it was an assembled computer so one of ur problems (if at all it is one) is solved tat it is not ur DELL computer which is malfunctioning.

it may depend upon wat browser u r usin if its IE7, i wud recommend u to uninstall it. better use IE6 only or if not then use mozilla firefox.

and if u r using IE6 then uninstall n reinstall it. remember to restart the pc after every install / uninstall.

u can uninstall n reinstall IE6 by usin the foll:

control panel -> add remove programs (u wil hav to wait for some time) -> add remove windows components -> uncheck the IE6 click next or ok or apply then close it and restart the pc.

after restartin the pc, follow the same procedure only this time to 'check' the IE6. restart the pc again.

it shud do.

thx.

Lost all connection with internet

Looks to me the EASIEST thing to do would be to use SYSTEM RESTORE function for windows and go back at least one day before you installed the update. That should lick this problem.

You may also try to disable Norton and see what is does for you internet connection. Uninstalling Norton is not out of the question, but you may have to get the NORTON REMOVAL TOOL to completely get rid of Norton.

Hope it helps!

I need to downgrade from explorer 7 to explorer 6 on my HP computer

Go to the Control Panel.
Go to add and remove programs.
Make sure that there is a check in the box "show Updates" on the upper right.
Scroll down to Internet Explorer 7
uninstall IE7
then reboot.

That should take you back to IE6
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

I have an acer laptop with xp pro sp 3 installed(updated from sp1). I cannot access messenger mail and some ebay pages, error message on screen (page cannot be found).Have checked security settings against...

Acer Travelmate 4000 Series Laptop.
After upgrading Windows XP Pro to SP3 (from SP1) I encountered the problems with messenger mail and certain web pages being unable to open. I have since upgraded Java to the latest version ( not sure if this helped ) and then upgraded Internet Explorer to IE7 (was previously running IE6). Since then I have encountered no problems with messenger or any web pages. Hope this can assist any people that have similar problems.

Internet explorer wont work.i can use fire fox.i have tried to download a back up disk and my computer tells me it wont allow me cause of my fire wall.but its turned off

Dear Customer,
As regards the IE problem, you had many infections on that system. Some critical files may have been damaged. I suggest you install IE7 and see if the problem persists or not. If you don't like IE7, you can uninstall it and revert to IE6 in Add/Remove Programs. (OR)
It may be a firewall issue. You can try going to Tools> Internet Options> Advanced Tab and unchecking Enable Third Party Browser Extensions under the Browsing heading.

Please Rate the Solution.. Thank You..

the firs hing to do here is goto your Temp folder and delete all files then if you are using ie6 then upgrade to ie7 as AOL is more happy with IE7 run AOL to log in to their server thn minimize AOL explorer then run internet explorer this should bupass their security measures that block you brouwse other sites.

happy webbing.

Goto windows update, and make sure you have the latest version of Microsoft .net framework.. (also any other service packs for ie7 that you don't have, along with security updates)

Most of those sites use the .net platform, and that may cause issues if it is not up to date.

Other then that, you might try to re-install IE7, or, revert back to Ie6
