Question about Verbatim CORPORATION 94933 USB 2.1GB Store-n-go HD Drive (VE94933) Hard Drive
If Verbatim can't get it working, they should replace it under the lifetime warranty. Ask them.

There are two major possibilities:
1: There is hardware or software problem with your computer's USB ports. To test this, plug the drive into a different computer if you can, and try having it plugged into your current one while you turn the computer on.
2: The issue is with the Jump Drive itself. If the drive fails to show up when plugged into a different computer this is the likely problem. The data CAN be recovered, but if it won't show up on any computer, the only real way to do so would be to pay a Hard Drive recovery shop.

An external hard drive is a normal hard drive with a converter to change it to USB.
If you have important information on it, you could open it up, and connect internally to your computer, however, opening it will (almost always) void the warranty.
I'd recommend contacting whoever sold it to you, and asking them: 1) If you can open it up, to connect it internally, to get your data off, and 2) For a replacement.
Good luck with it.
