What model? when did it happen? is it salt water? what was the cost because it could cost $65.00 to clean and align plus $20.00 for shipping.....you would have to send them asap before they dry out and get stained.....hope this helps.....larry@reichinstruments.com

Right & left eye does not focus together. They appear to be @ two different powers

Your binoculars either have a bent or broken yoke assembly (the bit which carries the eyepieces) or one or more prisms have came unseated.

The first repair involves replacing the entire yoke assembly: the part is expensive in comparison to the retail cost of a new pair of binoculars and with labour charges on top is not usually a cost-effective repair except on really high end models at prices far higher than yours which can be completely replaced for under GBP£115.

The second repair is straightforward and fairly quick for anyone with the right collimation equipment, but the screw(s) need to be secured with thread-locking liquid afterwards.

I hope you manage to use this information to fix your binoculars or at least that it assists you to choose your next course of action. Please take a moment to rate the free answer I have provided for you and any testimonial which you might wish to add is always welcome!

Water leaking into 2005 Camry 6 cyl under carpet drivers side.

I think that I can help you. It sounds like your drain-tube is plugged up. Get in the passenger side, and pull the carpet back from under the glove box. Look for a black rubber pipe that goes from a black box, and pokes thru the firewall, on the passenger side. Remove the hose from the box, and have a container ready to catch water. If water comes out of the black box, your drain hose is plugged up. Clean out the clog, and you will be golden.

BLURRY WHEN YOU LOOK THROUGH THEM

The binoculars are out of collimation (alignment). It is a problem that requires a repair center. In order to properly adjust them they need to be taken apart and aligned using a collimator. Not something one does at home. If they are under warranty send them back. If not a proper repair will cost more than a replacement.

Binocular repair

Yes they can be but need to be completely taken apart and cleaned. The salt will corrode any metal parts such as screws etc. The water may have left a coating on the internal glass services. Any impurities in the water may cause fungus to grow. Professionally done this will cost a tidy sum so a quote would be best. The warranty wouldn't cover water immersion if they are not meant to be waterproof. You could ask but Minolta no longer make binoculars and have forwarded on their servicing here is the web address
http://ca.konicaminolta.com/support/contact/binoculars/

You may find that for the cost of repair you can purchase a replacement set. Minolta binoculars are heavily discounted now. For sentimental reasons I have paid more than a binocular is worth to have it repaired.

If you are going to buy a new set and still want to try at home....BE ADVISED this may RUIN the alignment and you should ONLY DO IT if you are going to replace them and DO NOT CARE if they end up in the rubbish bin. THIS IS A LAST RESORT THROW AWAY FIX.

Try and unscrew the objective barrels, the ones with the large lens. If they come off you should have access to the inside. If they don't unscrew easily stop. You will damage them. Flush them out with clean water and let them dry naturally. Avoid letting them dry where dust can enter the inside. This may clear the salt from inside them, Depends on how long since they were dropped into the water. The salt may have caused damage to the glass coatings. When dry, screw the barrels back on. You may end up with a double image. This may be able to be corrected by loosening or tightening the barrels. THIS IS A HACK FIX AND YOU SHOULD ONLY DO IT IF THE COST TO REPAIR IS TOO EXPENSIVE AND YOU ARE GOING TO REPLACE THEM.
