Either the drive sensor went bad, the drive was damaged do to misuse, the cabling went bad, the drive circuits went bad or motherboard.

First you need to take apart the unit to check the drive or you can relace the drive which in the end woudl be less headache and time.

to take this apart you need a security torx T10. on the side there is a sticker for warranty and a rubber thng under it. Remove the sticker and rubber to see the first screw. Remove that with a the torx drive. After this you need a medium phillips. the rest is pretty easy. look at the screws and remove them. When they are removed roll the case up from the back toward the front. Now you are in. After this checkthe drive, cables etc or replace the drive.

Also the motor will not move if the disc capture system is not aligned correctly. To do this you need to adjust the arms and place the white plastic cd cap back in correctly. I have seen this happen on bad ejections or forced insertions of discs

Your blu-ray drive needs to be recalibrate. You'll need to disassemble the unit. check the back of your unit it has a model number, something like CECH01 Let me know which on your has and I'll provide a link and tips on how to fix this yourself.

First you'll need to take the unit apart.

    Use this guide:
    http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/PlayStati...

    Follow until Step 17.

Then you'll have to take the blu-ray drive apart, which is simple.

Not every drive has the same problem, but in general by just carefully examining your drive you should be able to figure it out. Just use common sense.

check for videos on Youtube like this one to help you out.

carefully examine the blu-ray drive, first thing I would do is remove the metal housing, then plug the wires and power supply back, check to see how the drive operates by trying to insert a disc, if it won't go in, take the rest of the drive apart from the top. Usually it's just a couple of screws it should come apart very easily, just pay close attention to how to operates to see what is causing the problem. That's what I do every time I fix one. I just pay real close attention to the drive, usually the problem is REALLY easy to pinpoint if I do that.

If the drive receives and will eject the disc but won't spin then it almost ALWAYS means your blu-ray laser itself is bad. You'll have to swap it out with a working laser, it's easy to do BUT with slims I have noticed that it's not always a slam dunk swap like the normal phat ps3's. You might want to see if you can find a local gaming console repair tech to see if you can stop by and have him quickly swap a working laser to determine if it will work or not. Since you already have yours apart this should only take him less than 5 minutes. If a new one works, hand that man some cash and you're good to go. Should run you only 50-70.

The alternative is buying one yourself from ebay and swapping the laser yourself, problem is if it doesn't work you just lost $ and time so if I were you Plan A is the way to go ;)

If he throws one in and it doesn't work you'll need to possibly replace the drive, depending on how good of a console tech he is...will determine if he can do this for you or not, I won't go into details but he'll probably suggest sending into Sony direct.

    Hope this info helps!

I have satellite C50D-B-10q. How do I open the CD/DVD drive?

Removing discs
To remove the disc, follow the steps as detailed below:
Do not press the eject button while the computer is accessing the optical disc drive. Wait for the optical disc drive indicator to go out before you open the disc tray. Also, if the disc is spinning when you open the disc tray, wait for it to stop before you remove it.
1. To pop the disc tray partially open, press the eject button. Gently pull the disc tray out until it is fully opened. When the disc tray pops open slightly, wait a moment to make sure the disc has stopped spinning before pulling the disc tray fully open.
2. The disc extends slightly over the sides of the disc tray so you can grasp it. Gently lift out the disc.
3. Push the center of the disc tray to close it. Press gently until it locks into place.

How to remove disc when the disc tray will not open:
Pressing the eject button will not open the disc tray when the computer power is off. If the power is off, you can open the disc tray by inserting a slender object (about 20 mm) such as a traightened paper clip into the manual eject hole near the eject button.

Manual eject hole:
Turn off the power before you use the manual eject hole. If the disc is spinning when you open the disc tray, the disc could fly off the spindle and cause injury.

Disc drive wont open. i pressed the eject button on my keyboard but it makes a clunk sounds but wont open.

This wil show you how to take it apart if that becomes necessary. But try this instead. First hold the eject button down for 5 seconds. I that fails look for a tiny hole near the disc slot. Use a straightened paper clip and push it in the hole firmly. This should eject the disc. Another option is to use firmware to eject the disc. Follow these directions: To eject a disc with Open Firmware commands, follow these steps:
  1. Restart the computer.
  2. Immediately after the startup sound, press and hold the key combination Command-Option-O-F.
Note: The Command key has the Apple and (commandkeysymbol.gif) icons on it.
  3. Release the keys when you see a white screen that says "Welcome to Open Firmware."
  4. At the prompt, type: eject cd
  5. Press Return, then wait a few seconds. The disc drive should eject any disc that is present, and "ok" appears behind your command when the action is complete.
  6. Type: mac-boot
  7. Press Return.
  8. Your computer should now start up normally.

Game is in Ps3, wont eject, says no game in the xmb screen

if the disc is spinning with some clacking noise then its all right, use the manual eject button 3 to 4 times. Now the disc should be sited on the disc plate. If you think that this works but not through the software then update the firmware. On new slim PS3 disc stuck,it doesnt void your warranty.

My PS3 wont turn on it just flashes a yellow light then red light that beeps cant get disc out

I found a way to eject the disk:
  1. Power off the PS3 on the main switch on the back of the console
  2. Press and hold the Eject button
  3. Turn on the main power switch
  4. The PS3 LED will go green and the fan will spin at max speed
  5. Wait a few seconds and press the eject button a couple of times, the disk should now eject
  6. watch the PS3 die after 30s or so…
This procedure did not fix my PS3 but at least I got my disk back before sending it to Sony for repair.

Wont accept disc

Try this....after a lot of frustration and research, what i found on the internet for this problem was usless. I tried holding down the eject button for 15 seconds to reset the disc drive, still it would'nt accept the disc. As i literally picked up the phone to ring sony, as the ps3 was on standby i pressed the eject button multiple times and heard 2 beeps each time, still the system stayed on standby. After that i then tried just putting the disc in as normal as its on standby and the system booted automatically and accepted my disc. I hope this helps others, as mine now works perfectly.

Nav system

Installing the DVD Map Disc Your dealer/retailer may have installed the map DVD. If the map DVD was not installed, do the following to load it:
Read the following steps completely.
  1. Turn the ignition on. The vehicle must be in P (Park) to perform this operation.
  2. Press (power) to turn the navigation system on.
  3. Press the NAV hard key.
  4. Touch the Insert Map Disc screen button. The screen opens to access the map DVD slot.
  5. Load the map DVD partway into the slot. The system pulls it in. The screen cannot be closed until a double beep is heard.
Notice: Pressing directly on the navigation screen may cause damage. Repairs would not be covered by the vehicle's warranty. Do not press directly on the navigation screen.
  6. To close the screen, slightly push up on the two outer corners until the screen is in position. Then push the screen in by pushing on the four outer corners until a click is heard.
  7. Set the search area. See "Setting the Search Area" earlier in this section.
Ejecting the DVD Map Disc The navigation portion of the system cannot be used if the DVD map disc is not loaded.
  1. Press the MENU key to enter the Menu options, then press the MENU key repeatedly until Nav is selected or touch the Nav screen button.
  2. Touch the Map Database Information screen button.
  3. Touch the Eject Map Disc screen button. The screen tilts, exposing the map DVD slot.
  4. Press the eject button, located next to the DVD map disc slot, and the disc ejects. Pull the disc out. The screen cannot be closed until a double beep is heard.
Notice: Pressing directly on the navigation screen may cause damage. Repairs would not be covered by the vehicle's warranty. Do not press directly on the navigation screen.
  5. To close the screen, slightly push up on the two outer corners until the screen is in position. Then push the screen in by pushing on the four outer corners until a click is heard.
