Question about Home

1 Answer

My ringgrip smartglow 6 hour timer globe which is used infrequently (when I go on holidays) has stopped working (no illumination). As I consider that it has not had a lot of work, the question is, is there a procedure to stimulate it into working again or do I discard it?

I have three solutions to help you.

1/ The globe may have been bumped or jarred and the filament may be broken
The filament can be repaired.
Look through the small area of clear glass near the neck of the bulb, using a magnifying glass; and a torch at that area and other areas around the globe
to inspect the filament.
With your eye follow the filament connections very slowly from one end to the other,
until you find the break (if any).
Memorise roughly where it has the break in proportion to some reference on the outside of the globe (felt pen mark).
Then insert the globe into a portable corded fitting (mechanics light).
Holding the fitting in your hand, switch it on.
Move your hand around (so the globe is either upside down, left, right, or diagonal, etc),
gently jarring the globe, remembering the position of the break of the filament, try to cause the filament's broken end to touch the terminal where it originally broke off from (doesn't have to be the exact position of the terminal, but in that area).
With a little patience, you may cause it to touch, and when you do, the light will instantly come on, the filament will be repaired (welded back on), and may even outlast any other part of filament breaking in future.
Now the instant it comes on, don't move your hand for a minute or so, to allow it to properly weld, then switch off, allow it to cool, then remove from portable fitting.

2/ If the problem is not the filament, the electronics can also be repaired.
They are located in the bayonet part of the globe,
and are the second cause of failure.
A skilled technician can access and repair that area
for only $10 grand.

3/ A more economical remedy, however, is to hold the globe upside down
in your hand,
then slowly release it from a twenty storey window.

Hope one of these helps !

I need to know how to set the time on my model RETP RINGGRIP TIMER

To set the time;
Press and hold the TIME button during the time setting procedure. While holding the time button press DAY to set the correct day and HR to set the correct hour (make sure the am/pm is correct) and then MIN to set the correct minutes. (If you hold down the Day/Hr/Min button for more than 2 seconds it will give a fast run-through)

Ringgrip timer retp timer manual

1) Send a photo so I can see it.

2) Raindrip makes water timers.
http://raindrip.com/products/timers?vmcchk=1

3) Otherwise the only reference on worldwide web for ringgrip is Fixya, which shows links to answers that cannot show a product either.

4) And if all the links to your product show Fixya as first page google search, then there is likely no information available.

I have just bought the yardworks 2 zone water timer from Canadian Tire and there are no instructions anywhere. I have managed to get it to work for one minute and I have it set to do the same in one hour...

Delayed Watering
You can delay the first watering cycle of each watering zone by up to 12 hours by using the small button at the bottom middle of each zone area. Press the delay button 1 time for each hour you wish to delay the first start time. The "Low Battery" light will illuminate when you press the button. The maximum delay is 12 hours.
For example, if you are programming at 4:00 in the afternoon and you want your timer to water every 12 hours, but you want the first watering of the day to start at 6:00 a.m., press the Delay button two times. Without the delay, the first cycle would have occurred 12 hours after the timer is programmed (4:00 a.m.). The delay feature changes that to 6:00 a.m. The timer will then water every 12 hours after that.

Ok i got a timer from glode but i dont know the model. so what can i said i got a push button in front and when i push it a letter f with the number 0 to 9 appeares. after that the letter r and d whit the...

1) Good clues on description: It's a dawn-to-dusk timer.
F is always ON or always OFF.
O is always OFF or always ON.
1 thru 9 is timer turns ON at dusk and turns OFF 1 to 9 hours later.
D is ON at dusk and OFF at dawn.
R is probably timer turns ON immediately then turns OFF 1 to 9 hours later.
Best guess: At 8 pm you press button until R9 displays, and then timer will turn ON each day at 8pm and OFF each day at 5am.

2) Open following links to find same-similar timer and check which one matches your product.

I need to use the Globe electric timer, tonight. Could someone tell me -- 1) which teeth/switch do you flip up and 2) does the time first cut off light and then switches it on or the other way round

Plug in timer and plug in light, and make sure lamp is turned ON.
Pull up a few segments, and then manually rotate timer dial around to see if segments-up = ON or OFF.

USUALLY ... when segments are UP timer is OFF, except with some GE timers.
You posted under Globe 2-pack which looks very similar to Woods 51419 2-pack.

Need instructions for setting Globe outdoor timer photocell model one button on/off #16UL/PC-24222

Use the on/off button to cycle through in the following order:

F = off

0 = on

1-9 = Number of hours unit stays on after detecting 15 seconds of low light

R = Random. After detecting low lux for 15 seconds, unit will select random number of hours to stay on. Will repeat randomization cycle in 24 hrs

d = On from dusk til dawn

1.-9. = (number followed by period) On now and will shut off after the indicated number of hours elapses.

Neat little timer. Have fun with it.
