Question about Computers & Internet

I have a Dell Windows XP and I haven't had sound for about 2 weeks now because of my conexant audio or smartaudio stopped working. I have tried everything, I have looked and tried to fix it but nothing works. I am so tired of failing. I have tried and tried this way http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/T400-T500-and-newer-T-series/Conexant-Audio-Driver-for-Vista-4-92-5-and-XP-3-64-6-Resolution/td-p/130950/page/7 but my first version of smartaudio wont work and so the second version wont work. It says it cant find the MEDIA device. I have no clue what to do. I tried this to fix my first version because that is the laptop I have but even that wont install properly. http://seoroot.com/blog/driver-downloads/dell-vostro-a840-conexant-audio-driver-installation-for-windows-xp.html Please if anyone could help it would be so appreciated! I just really want to be able to listen to music and videos again.

For the Dell Vostro A840, this is the correct driver download page for Windows Vista 32-bit:
http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=ca&cs=cadhs1&l=en&s=dhs&ServiceTag=&SystemID=VOS_N_A840&os=WLH&osl=en&catid=&impid=
Select the 'Audio' driver and click 'Download'.

There is not an option for Windows XP. Is this the correct laptop model?

Why don't you look for your device driver from the dell site?

Try to find out from http://support.dell.com for your model.

You may find more upgrade drivers not only for your sound device.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Conexant Higth Definition Smartaudio HD2 Cod. 1

This device is not configured correctly. (Code 1)

Your "Compaq Presario 700" notebook series does not support "High Definition Smartaudio HD2 drivers". Most probably wrong drivers installed to your notebook.

Your "Compaq Presario 700" Notebook Series audio are probably:-
1. ADI SoundMAX Audio Driver for Windows XP
or
2. ADI 188x WDM Audio Driver for Windows XP ( ie if OS is XP)

You can download the drivers @ http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/ProductList.jsp?locale=en_US&taskId=135&prodTypeId=321957&prodSeriesId=96403

Select your Model & OS to download your required Drivers.(To find the exact model, use the "Service Tag" No. to do the search).
Uninstall your previous Audio derivers before installing the downloaded Audio drivers

Hope it helps.

HP dv9728cl need windows xp driver for Conexant high Definiation SmartAudio 221

I understand that you have downgraded the operating system from Vista to XP and you are unable to install Audio drivers in your Notebook.

To isolate the issue please install following UAA drivers and Audio drivers.

Here is the weblink to install UAA drivers.

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp32501-33000/sp32646.exe

Please do not click on the link. Copy and paste it in a new Internet Explorer window.

After installing UAA drivers restart the Notebook and then install Audio drivers.

Here is the weblink to install Audio drivers.

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp34001-34500/sp34200.exe

After installing Audio drivers restart the Notebook again to get the changes effect.

I hope this will work.

Thanks
