Question about Germ Guardian Ultra-Sonic Digital Humidifier - H-3000

1 Answer

Hello, I've had the Germ Guardian H3000 for about 2 seasons. I clean it every year but it stopped working. I keep getting "Vacant" light turned on and get no vapor. I have the manual, but nothing in the manual describes that "vacant" means. I tried vinegar and alcohol on the sreen area and it comes on and off a bit but that it as in a few seconds, the vacant light appears and won;t work! Thanks for any help!

After thinking about the problem, it could be a problem with the level float being stuck in the empty position and therefore it thinks there's no water. Also, perhaps the ultrasonic mister is not working, which is related to this other Fixya I'll link to below.

Water refill light prevents unit from working. Tank is filled . Unit has been cleaned

Your problem is most likely a damaged Ultrasonic Disk (sensor).

If your product has not been used for a while, this piece was most likely damaged if it wasn't properly cleaned before storing. Cleaning well sometimes isn't even enough for this sensitive unit.
Unfortunately, there is no way to get this part, even though it is easily removed and could be easily replaced. Bad PR on the manufacturer's part. Your only solution is to send it for repair (if under warranty, you just pay shipping, if not, you pay shipping and $30) or to buy a different brand. You would think for as expensive as these machines are, the manufacturer would have a better solution to this extremely common problem.

Where do I find manual for germgaurdian H3000 humidifier.

Germguaridan website.

This manual can be found under discontinued models. This was most likely discontinued because it is very sensitive and quits working too soon because of the ultrasonic sensor.

Germ guardian h3000 not blowing air

I have a Vicks, similar, and it recomends a little table salt in the water to create a mist, read your manual and see if this helps. Don't go overboard on the salt, or you'll have old faithful instead of a mist!

You need to use a transformer and it needs to be capable of supplying enough power to operate your humidifier. There should be a plate on the humidifier that shows it's requirements in Voltage and either AMPS or WATTS. The transformer needs to be able to supply approx 20% more Amps or Watts, at least, than your humidifier uses. It's ok if it can supply a lot more than this but not if it supplies the bare amount required or less. The transformer will show this as Output in either WATTS or AMPS.

As some appliances quote AMPS and others quote WATTS you may need to convert between amps and watts this is how you do it.
WATTS = VOLTAGE multiplied by AMPS. and
AMPS = WATTS divided by VOLTAGE.
Also note Kw stands for Kilowatts or thousands of watts.

The voltage you're drawing is 110 so that's the figure you use.

For replacement parts contacting the manufacturer of the humidifier would be the best thing to do. They know what parts can be replaced and if they have service repair facilities or if you would need to work directly with the company. Germ Guardian website is www.germguardian.com. Problem with Germ Guardian Humidifier H2000B - Light turns red and the mist stops coming out after a few seconds of turning on the humidifier. There is plenty of water in the tank and the device is clean.

There are a few things to check that would cause the empty light to go on and the mist to stop.

Rinse the lid on the bottom of the blue tank. After you rinse it with warm water, dry it and then push the spring on the outside of the lid, it should move easily. Check the inside of the lid and make sure the rubber gasket is securely in place.

Remove the spray guide, and on the base of the humidifier to the side of the ultra sonic disk is a small white plastic pole with a washer-ring around it. This is the float, make sure it moves easily up and down the pole. Use white vinegar on a cloth or paper towel and wipe the pole down.

Reassemble the humidifier, use room temperature water in the tank, set to warm mist and let run for 30-40 minutes. Please make sure the humidifier is on a flat level surface, no carpeting or towel underneath.
