How do i get the radio to go on scaner.does the radios get hot when charging.

My radio is a pioneer radio and i pu it in my chysler 300 an it want come on

radio has to hot wires one goes to constant power and other to switch.And check make sure ground wire is connected to good metal ground source.

Which wires do I use for the acc/battery on Dodge Dakota for Radio

One wire stays hot all the time (yellow) and acc is only hot when the key is on. you should be able to find the wires in the original wire harness to the old radio with a test light or a meter.

Vauxhall astra radio keeps switching on and off on its own

I had this problem for the last 2 weeks, didn't think much of it, but recently the car radio just turned on and off by itself, it decided to do so whilst the car was switched off and it drained my battery. After doing some tests with the Amp meter and removing the fuses for the radio and infotainment system the amps going through the batter went from about 0.7 to 0.001 (far more accpetable) - so the radio was draining the battery and randomly turning itself on/changing stations and the internal display system had stopped working.

after putting the fuses back in and re-testing the radio worked fine (almost like it had a full reset - no random turning on and off OR changing of radio stations)

the fuse box for my astra was next to the battery under the bonnet (see your car manual - I had lost mine so googled for it)

PAGE (267 or 265)

but it seems yanking the fuses for the radio (FUSE number 35 and 36) seemed to fix it (been a few days and no flat battery) -

It maybe an intermitent fault, in which case i'll have it looked into, but as garages charge an arm and a leg i'd give this solution a go and if your battery is good all you need to do is remove the fuses and put them back after say a minute or so)

Matsui dabr103 radio display lites up blue with no onformation no sound

I'm probably a bit late in replying to help you, but my answer may help others.
I had a DABR101 with an identical problem - just the display lit up bright blue, no text, no radio functions.
As I am a qualified electronics engineer, I opened up the radio and found a flat ribbon cable joining the front panel to the main board via connector CN102 was partially disconnected. It's a very poor connector and the plug falls out easily, so probably the radio had been dropped or knocked. Anyway pushing the connector back together resolved the problem. Radio then working correctly.
I secured the errant plug with a dab of hot glue.
I hope this helps others with this issue, but you should not open up this or any other piece of electronic equipment unless you are qualified to do so as there are dangerous voltages inside.

I just bought a Porsche Boxer but I can't turn the radio on because I don't have the code!!!

Hello Jim,

Not sure where you are measuring your "good" 12vdc voltage(s) from, as with newer radios there are actually 2 +12vdc voltages you need to have otherwise the radio will not power up?

Also - your main car fuse block fuse for the switched ACC may be bad if you are only hooking up the new radio HOT 12vdc wire to the wrong batt source. I'm not there to actually see what you are or are not doing right or wrong.

Are you measuring it at the fused YELLOW wire lead (as in ALWAYS HOT, or as in connected to BATT 12vdc unswitched power source only), or measuring it at the fused RED (connect to TURN ON +12vdc ACC only), or at both ?? VERY IMPORTANT here.

Big difference and here is why - as both of these fused +12vdc sources have to be connected to the proper voltage source or the radio won't turn on.

The YELLOW fused batt voltage source is always ON, so it can remember your radio's settings in the memory, and also allow power to the CD player part of the radio so so as to be able to accept a CD even with the Ignition switch to the OFF position.

ALSO - that YELLOW unswitched +12vdc wire lead has a FUSED noise FILTER suppressor box (BLACK in color), and there is usually a 250V 5A fast blow fuse inside that marked suppressor box as well. NEVER replace the factory fuses with a higher value, as this will only cause more circuit damage if there is a possible short in that circuit leg.

The RED fused batt voltage source is IGNITION switched so when you leave the radio ON - but turn off the Ignition switch - the power is cut off to the radio so that the batt doesn't run down. Hope this makes sense to you. There is usually an in-line 250V 1A fast blow fuse in that marked fuse holder.

Both fuses have to be good!!

There also has to be a GOOD ground return - as in a good solid connection! Dirty grounds can be a high resistive point, and actually impede current flow to the point where some electronics will not work at all. You can still read a static +12vdc batt voltage, but NO current is going to flow in the circuit. I see it happen all too often esp with dirty batt connectors in the engine compartment.

Seeings your OLD factory radio was some ~12 years old it probably failed from OLD AGE. Possibly?

If it's a higher wattage unit it may have taken out the 5A fuse in the YELLOW +12vdc lead. Again from old age - as when the older the unit gets sometimes it tends to draw more circuit current, as from wear and tear on the CD player part, esp if you play a lot of music CD's in it. Same if it's a Cassette/Radio player combo. Then again - it could still be good, but you are maybe still overlooking a blown fuse like in the "ALWAYS HOT" YELLOW lead??

Chances of getting a 2nd bad after-market radio are pretty slim odds wise. Unless maybe that after-market was bought in a USED condition? If that's the case it too may be bad. You might have bought an AS IS LEMON in that case.

Depending on where you bought the after-market radio from you might want to take it back and have them check out the "possibly defective" radio there at the store. If they can do that there? If it checks out good at the store - then you are definitely doing something wrong at home!

If any + or - wiring leads were reversed in doing your DIY upgrade installation then the 2nd radio is history as well. Very important to NOT reverse polarities!!

These hookup guidelines and hints should help solve the problem, as I can't see anything else other then possibly a bad AMP if you had a really high powered car stereo system. You never said either way??

I was given a kenwood ts440s hf transceiver and it has the leads for dc power supply. What can I use to power this radio? Is it primarily set up for mobile use or can it also be powered for in house usage?...

To use supply the radio with 12 volts you would have to use a power supply such as an Astron which can be purchased at Ham Radio Outlet and other ham radio shops, you can get their number on the internet. The 110 AC to 12 volt DC is not the requires the amperage to make the radiois work.... You can use a 12 volt battery and use it for a maybe an hour without charging....the radio will not work with a car battery charger... Hope this helps

Hi there, there is no easy fix for this. First, check in the owners manual for the car. It is often written down in there. If will need to go to a Honda dealership with the VIN of your Accord and they can look up a database and give you the code. They may charge you for this, but it will be a minimum charge only, and certainly cheaper than a new radio. Good luck

Rewiring an old pioneer stereo.the radio was installed where it powers without the ignition being on.the battery was draining. figured it had to be the radio. pulled radio. the red power(acc wire) was...

hello...if you are sure that the red wire is acc it should be connected to the acc connection of the ignitionkey.or maybe the lighter positive...and the other to the battery"always 13.8 v"...then the memory will function properly of the radio and you will not drain your battery...please tell me what happens...good luck ...Ron

No radio

The front end is bad on this reicever. Your going to need special equipment to trouble shoot this problem, as Its all RF. It is most likly not worth repairing as a shop will most likly charge you more then its worth
