New gmr 3055-2ck work fine just charming indictater on charge won't stop have charged twenty-four hours lights still flash

Make certain you are charging with the radio OFF. If on, the radio will use a small amount of energy and the charger will not know the battery is fully charged. If you intend to leave it on the charger, ON as in standby, then the lights will always flash. I would put a timer on the wall adapter so the battery is not always being charged. A battery always being charged will not last long, likely get hot and may cause problems. These are light duty radios, not designed for 24 hour if even daily use.

Why is the radio switching itself off?

Not knowing what brand or model radio, or how OLD it is, I have to say if it is powered by A/C electricity or by battery, then something inside is getting hot and it is shutting down to prevent further damage.
If running on battery power, maybe the battery or 1 of the batteries has gone bad?
Is the device charged with a cable?
Maybe it is not charging.
Faulty cable?
Is the charging source faulty?

Service engine light is on

It may be a false code, a small simple problem, or a very complicated an costly problem.
The first thing to do is to decode the light, and get the code explanation. After decide to clear the code or fix the problem.
You can use a code scaner, or visit local AutoZone to decode and find the code explanation, for free.
If you decide to clear the code, use the code scaner. You can clear the code by disconnecting the battery for a couple uf minutes and reconnecting. If you do not have the radio code, then you wont be able to actvate the radio again.

most anyone who does radio or electronic work should be able to re solder the jack back into place. If you live near a truckstop, try there to see if they have a radio shop.

The cable works with many PRO-series scanners, and is still available from Radio Shack. Here's a link to their catalog page:

Need radio unlock code 99 olds aurora

They are all random codes that are stored in the radio. The radio can lock it's self with possible 10.000 differant codes. You will need to take it to the dealer to have them use the gm scaner to retreive the code that is in the radio then they call the gm headquarters and those egg heads give an unlock code for the car. All of the make since?

Midland gxt-850 gets HOT!

Hi,

It is very possible that the terminal of the positive end of the bottom battery is shorting to the battery's body hence the heating up. If this is the case, then when you charge the radio, excessive current is flowing since the battery set has one shorted. Again this would cause heat buildup specially on the bottom battery and the charging terminals.

A possible solution is to check the bottom battery's positive terminal and ensure that it only contacts with the positive terminal of the battery and does not touch the battery body (which is negative).

Alternately (and perhaps more to your advantage), seek replacement of the defective unit considering it is new and therefore should be under warranty.

Hope that this be of some help/idea. Pls post back how things turned out or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.
