Thats why I want to know if the pictures are turning out ok when you take them off the memory card because if they are, then something is going on with the LCD display. Is your camera set for auto when you take a picture?

If your getting that condition to happen when you take the picture in auto, then there could be something going on with the sensor that detects the flash, the autofocus, and the brightness. An easy way to find out is, cover the sensor in front of the camera with a finger or a piece of cardboard, look into the viewfinder and see what happens. It should be a dark circle in front of the camera.

It is best to use the infrared CCD outdoor cameras. It can record high quality videos and images. It provides clear video even in low light conditions.you can record the video in the receiver. It can be used both as wired or wireless camera.

My screen stays black, even though I can see old pictures, can record video (only the audio works) and upload my photos.

Could be a problem with the LCD screen viewer or CCD Image sensor go to bad. In both cases this isn't a job that you could solve yourself; this wrong include distorted images or abnormal colors, scratchy purple lines, blank or black pictures, and/or black videos with good sound being recorded on the camera's flash card.

I suggest check THIS LINK for additional details in this previous solutions for an Defective CCD (Charge Coupled Device) and next contact your Olympus service. I strongly suggest (taking into consideration the age of your camera) to evaluate the cost of repair versus the cost of a new camera with similar features, before making a final desicion.

Good luck.

When i power up camera, LCD sreen is almost white. I'm unable to see images clearly to take pic but pics are clear when I save to my computer

CCD (Charge Coupled Device): one of the two main types of image sensors used in digital cameras. Some symptoms of a defective CCD include distorted images or abnormal colors, scratchy purple lines, blank or black pictures, and/or black videos with good sound being recorded on the camera's flash card. A CCD problem would explain the lines on your pictures and the lines on the LCD (since the CCD is used to feed the live image).

If seen on both your pc monitor as well as the camera's LCD then it's likely a CCD issue and it's no wonder that it will be more expensive than buying a new digicam. This is why you need to be exceptionally careful when taking care of your camera since most are uber sensitive to being damaged by the slightest miss-handling.

When a picture is taken, the CCD is struck by light coming through the camera's lens. Each of the thousands or millions of tiny pixels that make up the CCD convert this light into electrons. The number of electrons, usually described as the pixel's accumulated charge, is measured, then converted to a digital value. This last step occurs outside the CCD, in a camera component called an analog-to-digital converter.

In order to correct this issue, the repair facility needs to replace the CCD. This is not something you may do on your own; check this article for additional details: Bad CCDs

Hope helps.

I have a digital video camera (Canon) it will record audio, but does not pick up video, just a black screen. (Yes, I have the lens cap off.) That's what my brother the photographer asked me.(smile)

Hi

Sounds like your camcorder may have a defective CCD unit. What is the model number, I can check the CCD recall list and see if its on there. If it is, I think Canon is still taking in cameras for repair under the recall.

Horizontal Lines throughout the images

My friend, I believe that that is a CCD issue. The horizonal lines and the interrmitent issues with the images are all related to a CCD issue that was notorious on the S-series camera.
Why the tech told you there is no CCD is beyond me, but all cameras either have a CCD or a form of the CCD and this is most likely causing you the issue.

eBay is a very good spot to find replacement parts!
