Kenmore oven about 8ys old. The top works fine. When i turn the oven on the glow from the pilot light is visble. then nothing except strong smell of gas. Help. thanks Michelle

The glowbar ignitor has gotten too weak to light the gas.
Replace the ignitor.
Unplug the range.
Turn off the gas ****.
Remove the oven racks.
Remove the bottom oven pan.
Remove the flame spreader grate.
Remove the ignitor and replace it.
Make sure the new ignitor is wired correctly.

Electronic ignitors won't stop clicking

Pull the burner caps, etc off the stove and completely dry the area ..Be sure to inspect each ignitor contact for cleanliness as well. If the ignitors have soapy buildup or water, around them, they can act like this.
You should be able to pull the burner caps and flame diffusers off and clean with a paper towel, and if needed, a light scouring sponge. Be careful not to scratch the surfaces, but scour the top of the ignitors carefully if you need to clean them.

Kenmore Oven Problem I have a Kenmore 79012 Range. The burners and broiler work fine. The ignitor comes on in the oven, but it will not light. After a few minutes I can smell gas, but the ignitor is still...

the ignitor has to be on before the gas valve opens up and until the stove recognizes a flame, if it doesnt the gas will shut off and the ignitor will cool off, If you use the self clean setting to clean the oven you will destroy the ignitor much faster because they are only rated for about 1000 degreese for just a minute and self clean keeps it around 800 for an hour or so. You may just need to replace the ignitor.

Grill won't stop ignigting

See if the thermal bulb is in the flame, if not gently bend the bulb so that it is in the flame if that does not solve the problem you will have to replace the bulb to the igniter.

Burnners work fine but oven stopped woring no gas

Hi, Do you know if the oven ignitor glows but will not allow the flame to come on? This is the most commom=n problem. I would say you have an initor going bad. Even if they glow, they can be weak enough not to open the gas valve. If you see the ignitor glow but get no flame, change the ignitor. If you see that you need an ignitor, I can give you my web site so you can order the right part and get your oven going.
Please keep me updated so I can help you further.
Thanks
Vic

Dry the ignitors and see if that works. If not, then get new ignitors.

Ignitors continue to fire even after the burner is lit

The switch sounds like it is bad. It has ; off, lowest setting going up to highest, then light, that's what makes the spark or clicking, right. Is this the top burners and do they all do this? If the ignite module runs too long it could over heat and burn out. But if they are all doing this you have a problem with it or the relay anyway.

Oven will not come on.

If you have power to the ignitor but it doesn't come on then the ignitor is bad and will need to be replaced. Good job on checking for power to the ignitor first.
