It's always better to install the original software over XP default driver, Try to install it – it should help. Make sure you power off the player before insert the USB cable. If the problem still exists, try different USB port/cable. Good luck.

QuickCam Messenger V-UAS14 Win7 x64

There is a work-around if you have Win7 Pro or Ultimate (or upgrade to one of those versions). Download and install Virtual PC and the XP mode software from Microsoft. Use the work-arounds if your hardware doesn't support virtualization. (You'll find the details at the Microsoft site. My computer that currently runs XP mode handles virtualization if enabled in the BIOS so I'm not completely informed on the steps.)

Then launch the XP mode software and install the camera to that "OS" as well as the QuickCam 8.4.8 software from Logitech. This may not be practical if you want to do video-conferencing with the QuickCam Messenger. It will depend a bit on how much memory you dedicate to XP mode since XP mode is 32-bit. (It will only see 3 GB.)

Since Logitech didn't include this model of the QuickCam Messenger in their updates to the QuickCam program for later OS versions, you are stuck this XP limit. You can also use a second computer, a dual-boot computer or another virtual computer program with XP installed. However, these require a licensed version of XP. Other virtualization programs include VMWare and Parallels.

I wish that I had better news for you. (It's a pain to have good hardware and no drivers. Unfortunately, I don't know any programmers who would be willing to write the drivers and software for the web camera from scratch.)

Is it possible to install XP in the CQ56-115dx?

In theory, yes it's possible to do that. But you need to review your pros and cons of making the switch over. Including OS features, software, installation time for OS, drivers, and re-installation of software needed. Not to mention that the Windows7 64-bit is going to take more advantage of your computer hardware, then XP will. Also, if you have more than the pre installed 2GB of RAM, you will have to downgrade back to 2GB. XP will only support running 2GB of RAM,

How to install the epson stylus TX100 scanner to my computer?

What OS does your computer have? Go to the Epson support site and download the software for your OS: http://tech.epson.com.au/downloads/category.asp?sCategory=Multi_Functional&id=StylusTX100&EmailAdd=&CanEmail=&SelOS=Y&MetricIDReturned=4036965&sCategory1=Multi_Functional and use the drop down menu to choose your OS. (With Windows 7, I know that the drivers are included in the OS so you can skip this step.)

For best results use a direct connection, with a USB cable that is 6' long or shorter.

Install the full software if it is available for your OS. Then when prompted to do so, make sure the printer is on and connect the USB cable between the printer and the computer. If needed, restart the computer.

In the case of Win7 or any other OS with these drivers included, just set up the printer and plug in the data cable. However, if the drivers are not included in the OS, then the printer may work after plugging in the data cable but the scanner probably won't. In that case, uninstall the generic driver, unplug the data cable. Then reboot the computer and install the one from the Epson site.

See the Epson support site for using the printer's software package. Please note that the buttons on the front of the unit will not work for initiating actions on the computer unless the full software is installed. Thus for Windows 7, you will need to launch your scans from the computer. Paint, Windows Fax and Scan and Photo Gallery (in Live Essentials) all can acquire scans. Some of these programs are also available for and will acquire scans in XP and Vista. (Paint is in XP, Vista and Win7; Photo Gallery comes with Vista and is available for XP and Win7; Fax and Scan is in some versions of Vista.)

I hope this helps.

FocusBT 1633 scanner will not scan. Windows XP says USB device is unrecognized. Owners manual indicates there should be an installation CD included for proper driver installation but Honeywell support...

win xp is a far outdated os and may not be compatible with the scanner
click on scanner properties and then the compatibility tab and see that the small square is ticked and then high light win xp as the OS
If there is no win xp , it will not work
if all is there then get the honeywell web site open and down load the driver for that scanner

I have installed window 98 on a Dell Dimension 2400 with a foxconn IS-36 motherboard and need the driver. I am having problems finding any drivers since this system's recommended OS is XP or Vista. Does...

yes it supports 98. 98 have insufficient driver packages built-in the OS so your MB didn't find the right driver on the OS DB whereas xp have most of the driver packages built-in on the OS

First off, you don't sound dumb, nobody is born computer literate. It's one thing to learn how to use computers, it's another when it comes to loading or working on them. Don't worry about it reading upgrade from 98 or 2000, Vista wasn't around when they packaged these, and Vista to XP is fine. I use XP Pro, I find that it's better than XP Home for my needs. Pro or Home will work fine for you, don't get the XP basic, the Home and Pro have better features. Also, you just need to purchase A Windows XP disc, and not a disc from Gateway or Gateway disc. Windows XP is sold at Walmart, Bestbuy, or Circuit City. After the install you will need to go to Gateway's support site and download any drivers that you need, I'll list the link for it bellow. You can find which drivers you need in the device manager, the devices with yellow question marks need drivers. If you have any problems with any of this get back to me. Thanks for the compliment on the pic, most people don't get it, especially the younger crowd on here.
