Pioneer P80MP, dont power up but ejects

Hi
all of a sudden today after a year or two, the p80 does not power up.
but allows me to eject the disc.
prior to this i noticed that when i insert a new cd i had to turn the car ignition on then off again to get the unit to power up, this began to happen a month or so before today.

any ideas?
cheers

    hi

    thanks for your reply,

    i have tried this

i also taken the unit out and wired it direct to the car battery and the exact same happens, looks like a fault with the unit.

You should start by taking the radio out of you dash. Check to make sure that the Red wire, Yellow wire and Black wire are all connected properly and that wire is not exposed. It could be grounding out. Or, sometimes there are multiple fuses for you radio. In my car there are 4 in the fuse panel.

If the DISC eject button does not work, insert the pin into the disc force eject hole to eject the disc. For details, see "Main Unit Front Panel" in the operating instructions.

I have a pioneer avicx1r and when i try to eject a disc it keeps on coming up with mechanism error

The problem is the disc. It is most likely warped. I had the same issue and I actually removed the unit from the dash still connected, tapped the top and pushed the eject button and out came the disc. I played a little longer and reinserted the disc and it showed the error again, tapped it and ejected it then tried another disc and no problem at all. I tried several and they all worked and every so often tried the original one and it showed error each time. It seems as though the fact it was warped it was catching the unit or a sensor was seeing it as a problem and not allowing it to eject. Hope this helps
