This morning tried to start my 03 sierra 1500, i opened the driver door cab lights came on, put key into the ignition turned the key and the lights went out and the truck would not even crank nothing. Tried turning the key again an nothing the truck would not crank no lights would come on inside cab or outside the truck. Could you tell me were to start trying to fix the problem? Thanks

i got a 2001 silverado 1500 and it wont start it turns over and fires and .... Put the key in and the truck barely starts due to the battery being weak. .... Check the voltage coming out of the alternator with engine running it should be 13-15 volts.If its not within these specs then replace the alternator.

try ignition with key in and turn to number 2 and press fob button if the doors lock its worked, it f not you need to remove the battery negative and turn ignition on and lights and leave on for a few moments then turn all off again, then fit battery and do the first part again. hope this helps you.

2. Insert key into ignition
3. Hold down the power UNLOCK button on the driver's door panel, continue to hold down
until instructed to release in step 9.
4. Perform steps 5 through 8 in a fairly rapid succession.

door locks locking and unlocking automatically. (If locks do not cycle after you let go,
not before you let go of the unlock button, then the vehicle has not entered programming

and return to step 1 ). If the locks do cycle automatically then proceed to step 10.
10. Hold down the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on the remote until the doors lock and
unlock. This may take up to 30 seconds.
11. Repeat step 10 NOW for each additional remote. (Including any existing remotes).
12. Turn the ignition to the ON position to exit the programming mode.
13. Test remote(s).

sounds like either key in cylinder contacts are bad or the 2 wires going up column to the switch are pinched together.

Pretty much...had a 2006 Chev 2500HD Crew Cab 4X4 w/6.0; got 12mpg regularly...which is why it's someone else's truck now. Have a 03 1500 GMC 5.3 Ext Cab now; get 18-21 mpg. Sweet!

No, the chip will not cause you not to be able to turn the ignition. The new keys need to be worn down a little to work properly. Over time keys wear down and stop working right. New keys cut in a automatic key maker are normally too "high" for the tumblers in the lock making it hard to turn. You can add graphite to your ignition which should make it easier as your ignition becomes used to your new keys. You can find graphite at Autozone for about 4 or 5 dollars.

That is right. Could be security system. If anything fails it won't allow the vehicle to start.

its tricky but not hard. remove the door panel and put the window up, look in with a light and it will be obvious what to do......

I have an A4 and did this to re-program my key:

1. used the key to start the car...then turned it off
2. put the key in the driver door (door closed)
3. pressed the lock button on the key fob once
4. turned the key to lock the door.

This is basically the steps in the owners manual, but the car must be started with the key first, and the key must be in the door lock before pressing the lock button.
