Question about GE Washing Machines

1 Answer

I just had a new washer installed and using it for the first time but the control knob does not move. I had to manually advance it because it washed on medium cotton setting for 50 min and would not quit spinning after an hour.

Frigidaire FTF530FS Front Load Washer will not advance through cycles... need to manually turn knob. New timer did not do the trick nor control panel...

Hi Jacquie, thank you for your inquiry! First, when you are referring to the control panel are you speaking about the motor control board? The motor control board advances the timer, and the timer will not advance if it does not sense that the door is closed and securely locked. Therefore, I highly recommend reaching out to an expert technician that can accurately diagnose the motor control board and/or door switch on this particular unit. The servicer will ensure the appropriate replacement part is ordered and is installed correctly to prevent future issues. I hope this information helps to some degree - thanks for your question, and please do not hesitate to reconnect.

Washer will not cycle

The cycle doesn't advance When the cycle doesn't advance, it's probably the timer or a cold-water supply problem:

  • It's the timer, if your washing machine fills with water and begins agitating, but the timer never advances--or if the washer is in a spin cycle and the timer won't advance. Then you need to replace the timer.

  • It may be a cold-water supply problem, if the washing machine fills with water, agitates, drains, and spins, but then doesn't fill with rinse water. See There's no cold water.

Dial does not advance through all parts of the wash cycle

Replace the timer of the unit. With the mothel number that is behind the timer, you can order it. The timer location is at the back of the unit. Remouve the cover at the back of the control panel, then look for the part that look like a smal motor at the back of the knob. remouve the knob and the small screws, then desconect the wires plugs, do not cut any wire. then instal the new one.

Kenmore Fabric Care 90 won't stop washing

It sounds like your timer motor may have died. Pull the knobs off the controls and remove the screws in the control panel to get to the motor. The motor is usually pretty expensive, so you might want to consider buying a new washer over replacing the timer motor.

Frigidaire top load washer won't rinse

this can be two issues. One could be the control knob. there could be a malfunction here. secondly, you may have a faulty water valve assembly. the relay or solenoid may need to be replaced. i would start with the control knob.

GE washer does not agitate. Water does not stop filling.

If it does not agitate at all, then it is either the motor, the clutch/motor control or the agitator.

If the machine start agitating only when you advance manually the control knob, and at the same time is overfilling, that is probably because of the problem with the water inlet valve, or the water level switch, and that is also cusing the cycle to stop.

Maytag commercial washer gets to spin cycle and stops

It sounds like your timer is defective

FIX

When the machine gets to the rinse cycle slowly advance the setting to manually advance the timer
if it just sits bang on the panel or around the knob and listen if ou hear the timer start ticking you will need to replace it

Timers are avaliable from appliance parts suppliers around $29 you can get someone to install it or if you are handy can do it yourself

good luck
