Question about HP Pavilion Slimline S7410N Notebook

1 Answer

Administrator Password I wiped my hard drive of everything and when I set it all up again I never set up a password, but then it restarted after I removed a file and it requires a password for me to log on my HP_administrator. I tried the safe mode but it always requires a password. I have no idea what to do. Please help me. Thank you. KMS

How do i undo my system password?

System Password? No Such Thing!!!

The Three Types of Passwords are:
Bios Password - which is a password the comes up before the machine will even start booting. If you set this password, you should know it. The only way to remove a Bios Password if the take the laptop apart and remove the CMOS battery that is on the motherboard and let it sit for an hour or so until the computer completely loses memory of everything including the date, time, passwords.

Hard Drive Password - The hard drive password is set by the owner of the laptop to prevent thieves from getting to sensitive data if the laptop is stolen. 99% of the time if someone don't know the Hard Drive Password, then the laptop is stolen. If you're smart enough to set the hard drive password, then you should be smart enough to remember it. The real owner can sometimes set the password remotely once the laptop is stolen. The only way to remove the hard drive password is type in the correct password.

Windows Password - This password is associated with a user id that shows up once windows has completely booted up. If you forgot this password, it can be reset depending on the operating system.

Windows 7 requires a Password Reset Disc that everyone should take the time to create if they want to use a password on their user account. Without the disc that was created on that computer you won't be able to get in.

Windows XP and Vista - Turn off the computer, then turn it back on and immediately start hitting the F8 key repeatedly until you see SAFE MODE. Select Safe Mode and let the computer boot. When it comes to the login screen it will show the Administrator account and the user account for which you forgot the password. Click on the Administrator account and just click ok or enter for the password (hopefully you didn't create an Administrator's password and forgot it too). When you see the windows desktop in safe mode it will look differently. The icons will be bigger and the screen darker, but that is normal in safe mode. Click Start/Control Panel/User Accounts and select the user account for which you forgot the password, then select REMOVE PASSWORD, click OK and reboot your machine. This time let the computer boot up as it normally would.

There are 2 things what can be done.
1. Crack the Administrative password by following the steps in the link below http://www.clazh.com/how-to-hack-or-crack-a-windows-xp-administrator-password/
2. Take the computer back to factory setting which will wipe out all the data on your computer and get your computer back to factory settings by inserting the restore disc

Forgot my log on password how can i reset password

I have included instructions for windows XP, however, no matter what operating system you have installed on your notebook, this solution may work. When windows is installed, there is an adminstrator account installed on the computer by default. Most often, the password is left blank.

So, if you restart your computer, hit control-Alt-Deletecan when the user account page appears and type in Administrator as the user and leave the password blank, you may be able to sign onto your computer to reset your user password. Step by step instructions are listed below. If you cannot access your computer using the administrator account, you many have to use the restore partition on your computer to do a restore of windows. This will bring windows back to the original configuration as it was when the computer was delivered to you. You should be able to chose a "Non destructive" restore so that your hard drive is not formatted and your documents will not be erased.

If you need further instruction on using the restore utility on your Pavilion notebook, let me know.

Brian

Here are the step by step instructions:

Log on as an administrator to reset the password

loadTOCNode(3, 'moreinformation'); If you did not create a password reset disk, you may be able to log on as an administrator to reset a forgotten or expired password. The steps to do this differ if the computer is a stand-alone computer or a member of a workgroup of two or more, or a member of a domain. Select the appropriate set of steps from the following to try to log on as the administrator to reset the password.

Windows XP Home Edition or Windows XP Professional

loadTOCNode(4, 'moreinformation'); To log on to a computer as the administrator to reset a password, try the following steps.

1. Log on as an administrator.

a. Restart the computer.

b. Press CTRL+ALT+DELETE two times, and then type the name of the administrator user account.

c. In the Password box, type the administrator password, and then click OK.

Note If the administrator password is set to a blank password, do not type a password before you click OK.

2. Reset the password.

. Click Start, and then click Run.

a. Type control userpasswords2, and then click OK.

b. On the Users tab, click the name of the user account that you want to reset the password for, and then click Reset Password.

c. Type a new password in the New password box, and then type the password again in the Confirm new password box, and then click OK.

d. Restart the computer, and then try to log on to Windows XP again.
If you can log on as an administrator to reset your password and you can now log on successfully, you have resolved the issue, and you are finished.

Hey. My parents are getting a divorce and my mom and i get to keep the acer aspire 5630-6288 laptop i got for christmas one year. Only problem is that its windows vista and my dad has the administrator...

Reinstalling Windows Vista or installing Windows 7 will wipe out the administrator password, BUT you need to install the Acer laptop's device drivers and the programs such as MS Office etc. and you will also wipe out your data on the hard disk. You will need the Windows XP installation CD or purchase Windows 7 to install Windows.

If you can already login to this computer and you have administrator's rights, then you do not need the administrator's password. You can go to the Control Panel - User Accounts to set up other Users or change the password on the various Users as well as the administrator.
If you need the administrator's password to set up a new user then there is a way to remove the administrator password.
You need to download Hiren's utilities and make a boot CD with this utility. You most likely need to do this from another computer.

I have forgotten the password that i used when opening my account. please assist. thank you phill rogers

Forgetting your Windows administrator login password. With no way to get into the system, you can’t even perform basic maintenance, let alone a thorough tune-up. Formatting is always an option, but we consider that a last resort. (Plus, guess who’s going to have to help reinstall all the programs lost after a wipe?) But all hope is not lost. There are a few ways to actually retrieve a lost Windows account password. Read on, and we’ll show you the light.

1st Method:
The first thing which you check if you forget login password. When we install Windows, it automatically creates an account "Administrator" and sets its password to blank. So if you have forget your user account password then try this:
Start system and when you see Windows Welcome screen / Login screen, press ctrl+alt+del keys twice and it'll show Classic Login box. Now type "Administrator" (without quotes) in Username and leave Password field blank. Now press Enter and you should be able to log in Windows.
Now you can reset your account password from "Control Panel -> User Accounts".
Same thing can be done using Safe Mode. In Safe Mode Windows will show this in-built Administrator account in Login screen.

2th Method:
There are a lot of Windows password revealers and crackers available, but I’ve found that Windows Password Recovery Tool is the most effective.:
it not only supports XP, 2000, and NT, I have personally tested it with Vista Home Premium and Ultimate. It works perfectly to reset any local user account to a blank password
You can use the ISO to burn a boot CD. Follow these instructions:
1. Download ISO file from http://www.windowspasswordsrecovery.com Windows Password Recovery Tool
2. Burn to a CD using a CD burning tool such as Nero or Roxio or MagicISO
3. Insert CD into drive and reboot.
4. You may have to select an option in the BIOS to get the computer to boot from the CD.
Booting up and clearing a password takes a minute or two works like a charm.

Me again

O.k. Then what this person did is set up an administrator password during the XP install. This overrides the key administrator account in safe mode and only allows his/her account to exist as the administrator. The computer is still good and usable, unfortunately, without the password the operating system is not. You will have to wipe the hard drive, reformat (NTFS), and reinstall the operating system. Sorry, no easy way out on this one.

If you have the system recovery disk that came with that pc, you should be able to completely reformat the entire drive, which would wipe all of the data and start fresh. Also, you can try following these instruction for lost Windows password:
