Depending on the inputs on your projector and the outputs on the Macbook, you'll need to pickup one of a few adapters.
For a mini-dvi to VGA, you'll need http://store.apple.com/us/product/M9320G/A
For a mini-display port to VGA, you'll need http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB572Z/A?fnode=MTY1NDA4Mw&mco=MTczNzEzNzU.

Projector wont switch on.

if there are no leds lit on the top, then the power supply is bad (check the fuse on it first). if there are leds lit, which ones, what color, and are they flashing, and how many times? this will tell you the problem.

Sony vpl cx5 no voltage to lamp

I downloaded the schematics and drawings for $US9.00 and found what I thought may have been a thermistor turned out to be a fuse. Obtained one from Sony spares and it is now OK. If it is possible would you guys know the value of the fuse [amp/milliamps??] If you are familar it is fuse 2P connected to C board, it looks like a small lump of plastic or diode block. The cost of the fuse is outragous from Sony. I hope I do not have to replace it again. However, if I do I would love the valua and I could see if I could get one from Radio shack or someplace similar. If I was not retired I would buy one and put it on a step tranny and watch the ampmeter for the blow current. But, thats life when you decide to retire. I believe the voltage value is 3volts??

Would appreciate any feed-back on the value of the fuse.

And I hope this may help others

Thanks and Good-day

Wireless Connection Keeps Dropping

Hi,

Some generic solutions for WiFi dropping out may include:
1. Use of static IP addresses for the clients (in your case the 2 Sony VPL-CX86s) rather than auto obtain;
2. Disable the WEP/WPA security;
3. Set MAC filter in your router and include MAC addresses of the 2 projectors;
4. Try raising the height/position of the router; and/or
5. use an aftermarket high gain antenna for the router.

As a reminder, WiFi works by line of sight (LOS), anything in between will reduce signal strength/coverage and that include people around/near the projector unknowingly blocking the router.

Hope that this be of some help/idea. Pls post back how things turned out or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Projector turns off after 30 seconds.

I had the same problem I replaced the motor/lense cover unit at the cost of $AU140.00 and that fixed it.
