I have a Sharp tv im trying to program a lg universal remote. I have no codes and can i even do that?

Universal remotes usually have a "Learn" capability.

First you need to figure out how to get into learn mode.

Then you face the Learning Remote IR LED to the current Remote LED. You select the Key or Button one the learning remote that you want to pick up, Then click the similar button on the current remote that is Teaching. The IR signal is picked up by the learner and indicates it has been received correctly.
Then the next key is done

Good Luck

Programing your remote controller

You can find the remote control codes for difrent brands of devices from
http://www.hifi-remote.com/ofa/codes-vcr.shtml#dvd

If none of the codes work then we have two other solutions:

1. Searching For Your Code

If you have tried all of the set-up codes for your brand of equipment ,or your brand is not listed, and you are still not able to get the unit to respond, try the following procedure to search for your code.
If you don't find a code that works, the remote will flash four times when you reach the end of all the codes for this device type.
  1. PRESS the button for the device you want to program, (TV, VCR, CABLE, etc.), then RELEASE.
  2. PRESS and HOLD the SETUP button until the red LED flashes twice, then RELEASE.
  3. ENTER 9-9-1 (two blinks on the remote)
  4. ALTERNATE slowly between the POWER key and the DEVICE (TV, VCR, CABLE, etc.) button until your device turns off. (On VCR, LD, and CD players use PLAY instead of POWER)
Make sure that the remote is pointed at your device during the search, You may have to press this sequences of buttons up to 100 times to search the entire library of codes.
  5. When your device turns OFF, PRESS the SETUP button and RELEASE it to lock in the code for your device.

2. Learn the buttons from the original

Line up your original remote and the head-to-head before completing the following steps.
  1. PRESS and HOLD the SETUP button until the red LED flashes twice.
  2. PRESS 9 - 7 - 5, the red LED will flash twice.
  3. PRESS the DEVICE key where you wish to learn the function. The next 3 steps must be completed within 10 seconds.
  4. PRESS the button that will receive the learned function, the LED will flash radidly.
  5. PRESS the button on the original remote to be learned.

Now you can repeat steps 3 through 5 to learn other functions onto other keys or press and hold SETUP until the Cinema's red light flashes twice to lock in your new feature. (If the red light does not blink twice, stop and repeat steps through 6).
To test the new feature, press and release the device key in which the new feature was learned followed by the key on which the feature was learned

My decibel elections jambo remote manual does not list a cable code for my brand I have I have Comcast I called them to ask if there any codes they said you cant program the universal remote with their box...

no. you cant use that universal remote with their brand.
it uses a bunch of preprogrammed sets of ir codes in that remote.(the 4 or 5 digit code you enter only activates one of these sets)
and does not have one for their brand

you can get yourself a learning universal remote and program the keys to correspond with any ir code.you want tho (any button to any function on any device that uses ir (infra red))

Hi i'm trying to programme my sharp stereo with a sony rm vz220 remote control. But can't get the correct code. The only code that i got was 60048. But it does not work.. Help plz..

According to the Sony Support site for this remote, receivers are NOT supported at all. Additionally, only a handful of codes are available for Sharp electronics. They are for the following devices:

Blu Ray, CD, DVD, DVD Recorder, TV and VCR.

All the codes used for the devices above are:

12250, 70034, 70037, 70180, 10630, 10675, 12250, 10675, 00818, 60048 and 60848.

You could try these codes one at a time and possibly gain some remote control capability - but that would only happen by chance. The codes above are the ONLY ones built into the RM-VZ320 remote for Sharp brand products, and if none work for your equipment, Sony says you should use your original equipment remote to control it. Not very helpful.

You can either do as they recommend, buy a pre-programmed remote that supports your device, or buy a pre-programmed remote that supports "learning". Learning remotes are universal in that the products not built in to the remote can be learned by holding the original so it points at the learning remote and pressing function buttons so that the learning remote "records" the buttons pressed on the original. It can take some time to do this, but you are assured that the remote will work with you device. Of course, you must have the original remote to do this though.

I hope this helps and good luck! Please rate my reply. Thank you.

I had the same problem but with my Samsung receiver. I had to do an individual "learn" for each separate function or button of the receiver. It wasn't difficult once I figured out what I was doing, ( such as realizing you can "learn" the on, off, vol up/down etc. as well) but it was time consuming and repetitive. My problem now is figuring out how to make macros within macros for selecting stuff inside a TV INPUT menu and scrolling.

Need a code to program my philips remote control to my apex tv.

Be advised that if the remote and TV are more than ~2-3 years different in age, there will probably be no code available. There is no standardization of the code sets and they change even from one model TV/Stereo/DVR etc. to another. Even 'learning' remotes refuse to learn from all IR remotes.
Secondly, always include ALL model numbers in your query if you expect to receive any reply worth your time.

The instructions that came with my remote were COMPLETELY incorrect. I made note in pen in my jumbo remote manual. After hours of searching the web and piecing together various blogs, I wrote these easy-to-use instructions:
  1. Place the jumbo remote and your old remote on a flat surface, head to head, with a 1" to 2" space in between (the remotes should be aiming at eachother).
  2. Press and HOLD the device button on the jumbo remote (eg. TV) until the jumbo remote's small indicator light turns solid red.
  3. Press the LEARN button once on the jumbo remote. The light will blink rapidly.
  4. On the jumbo remote, press the button that you want to perform the learned action (eg. If you want the jumbo remote to turn your TV on and off, press the POWER button on the jumbo remote).
  5. Press the same button on your old remote (eg. POWER button on my old tv remote control). When the jumbo remote's light changes from rapid flashing to slower flashing, press ENTER on the jumbo remote.
  6. You're done! Try the jumbo remote out (eg. Aim the jumbo remote at your TV, press the jumbo remote's TV button, then press the jumbo remote's POWER button). Your television should turn on or off with your jumbo remote.
You can program any jumbo remote button this way (eg. MENU, EXIT, MUTE). Just make sure you press the same button on each remote in steps 4 and 5 (eg. MENU on jumbo remote, MENU or LIST on old remote).
