Hello & to Whom ever might be concerned about my TV. I purchased a Proscan TV from our local Canadian Tire store May 2, 2008. The remote is not working nor has it been working for probably about a year now! We are very disappointed in the quality of the remote for such poor/short service. To be exact it is the "ON/OFF" button that does not work. We have to turn the TV off and on at the TV itself. The button will not work on the remote "unless you hold your finger nail hard into the blue botton (very hard) and hit the exact spot, then sometimes the TV will turn off and on for us. If you don't get the right spot or hold you finger nail hard enough into the blue button "It will not work"! Replace new & discontinued remote controls for Proscan devices with fully programmed remotes from our online store. Enjoy low prices and fast shipping.
Hi,
If you have the model number of that Proscan TV, you will likely find the original remote for that at www.remotes.com. They don't have power cords for TVs, but they do have Proscan remotes.
To whom it may concern,
My suggestion is to call DirecTv customer support and request they walk you through the programming process. This is not a difficult process for them to help with. If this does not work, don't be afraid to schedule a technician visit.
Hi Lisa:
Don't know where you are, but............
- Local Automotive parts store (Lordco, Napa)
- Local big box store (Walmart, Canadian Tire)
- Local auto salvage business (last resort)
I would suggest going to your local store and buying a Universal Remote Control. They can be found in electronics at most places. These remotes work for all TV's including Proscan.
first thing i would say is that it isnt a great idea putting your address up on the internet. But also have you tried just buying another replacement remote for the tv , if it bothers you so much. Basically it sounds like the silicon mat (under the off button) is not getting a good contact on the circuit board. You could just undo the remote and clean bothe the rubber mat and the circuit board suface. Just use some wet wipes to clean the top of the circuit board and the underneath of the rubber key pad, pay particular attention to the black contacts inside the key buttons on the rubber pad, allow it to fully dry and wipe all excess fluid using a dry towel, obviously make sure you take the batteries out first
To separate the remote, you will need to unscrew any screws that are located in the battery compartment or under a sticker in the back of the remote then use a hard piece of plastic to prise apart the top and bottom of the case it will be clicked into place with small plastic catches that will undo with some gentle persuasion.
Good luck

I only had it about a month when the sealing wire broke. I returned it to the store and they replaced. One month later the same thing happened again, but because it is more than 30 days I can not return it to the store this time. I have misplaced my bill of sales. Where do I go from here.
