Question about Canon 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III USM EF Lens

Canon ef 75-300 aperture fixed at f22

Hi, I read that you disassembly yourself your canon ef 75-300. I've the 75-300 USM III and have the aperture fixed now, i think i must changeor perhaps have the wire broken like yours. But I think some sand enter inside and blocked it. I disassembly almost part of the objectiv, but I didn't understand how to reach the last part, and take off the main plastic cylinder where inside is the aperture. Can u help me? I'll thank u for ur help..

Best telephot zoom lense for my canon 1000d

That's a decision only you can make. What's most important to you? Long focal length? Wide zoom range? Lens speed (maximum aperture)? Weight? Cost?

Also, what do you want to do with the lens? The best zoom lens for taking wedding pictures is not necessarily the best zoom lens for taking sports pictures.

Hi- purchased the Extender EF 2X II; it seems fine with my fixed focus 300mm, but the auto-focus doesn't operate with my 70-200mm EF IS USM zoom, in any mode. Any suggestions? Thanks G

You haven't stated which body you have but the AF will not work with the extender if the effective lens aperture is too low (remember that a 2x extender doubles the focal length but halves the effective aperture).

Canon's own website states: "Autofocusing does not operate if the effective maximum aperture is greater than f/5.6 (greater than f/8 on the EOS 1V and EOS 3)."

New Camera

Get the Canon EF 70-300mm IS USM about $500 and EFS 17-85mm IS USM about $300. The 75-300 all of them I would not use them 4 a body cap. Camera is fine or step up to XSI.

something sounds strange about this. aperture 00 is an invalid aperture value. stands to reason if that is the case the camera would complain about it. via error code. being that its only six mos. old i would give canon a ring.

The USM engine may be out of order, or there is a bad contact in the lens.
