Question about HP Officejet 5510 All-In-One Thermal Printer
Replaced black (HP56) cartridge in printer with different cartridge which was refilled at OfficeMax. Got a message of "remove and check black cartridge." Purchased a new "genuine HP56" cartridge and installed and continue to get the message. Contacted HP technical support and followed their recommendations and instructions on cleaning contacts on both printer carriage and printer cartridge, cycling power (unplug and restart), and cycling default settings (unplug, plug back in while pressing "6").
Only thing left is to get another new HP56 cartridge and try it. Any other suggestions?
Gotta love the internet!
I had the same problem...I seriously considered getting a new printer since I've had my faithful 5510 AIO for like, six years...but what I did was grab some witch hazel and a q-tip. Dipped the q-tip in, wiped down all copper contacts on the carriage and also on the print cartridge...blew on it to air dry...popped it back in and viola! It's back to normal.

I would call hp again. The cartridge you purchased is covered for a one year warranty and they should be able to replace to make sure issue is not with the cartridge itself. Since this is not a computer issue tell them you have a mac and you will get to Canada support instead of India.
