If the audiovox does not have digital capability you will need a converter. The converter "converts" the digital signal back to the old signal so that your tv will recognize and play it. Thanks for using fixya.
If you are subscribing to cable or satellite TV, then the answer is no; they will continue to send an analog signal to your TV. However if you are using an antenna to receive your broadcast, then you will need a converter. Broadcast TV (over the air) has switched to a digital signal for most of the channels as of June 12th.
Usually most newer high end sets are digital ready, after looking in the manual I could not find any mention of it being digital ready therefore I would have to say no and you will need a converter box, you can still get $40 off on up to converter boxs through the Govt. here is a link for that. You have to request your coupons by Dec 31st. I requested them and got them in a matter of weeks.
unless the information that comes with the tv says it is digital ready, NO!! and you will need a converter box.The reason is that for almost two years before the conversion, the /tv people knew what was going to happen and they were getting rid of the 'old' stock. The TV must say it is digital ready.
p.s. I looked it up for you...SORRY!! "" The manufacturer has informed us that this model has been discontinued. However, it might still be available for sale.""
p.s.s. Now I know for sure that it is not digital ready...get the converter box.
