Question about Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H5 Digital Camera
A few years ago(!) you placed an aswer here:
What's the relation between the horizontal lines (in poor light condition) and the overexposed outdoor pictures?
You can see on the page above I dropped my camera (a stupid history) and I get the same horizontal lines since then. Now that I saw your question, I recall I got over exposed pictures for a short period of time during previous week-end. I used -1.7EV to correct the situation, and after a few shots all came back to normal...
We were hiking on the mountins and my girlfriend also used the camera. She switched to "Auto" mode to alternatively take shots with "Auto" and (corrected) "P" modes... I was busy with the baby carrier, so I didn't pay much attention to the camera...
Clearly something is broken, but what?
I've got my screwdriver and I'm already looking to a dsc-h50 (although it has proprietary batttery and cables and (I read somewhere) it also has a 10 minutes movie limitation...)
So, let the games begin. What screws to unscrew, what pieces to extract? :)
The apparture system of the camera stucks to fully open, due to the impact if you happen to drop the camera. if you open the shutter and the diaphram assembly, and try to move the apparture blade manualy. it should move swiftly from one end to other with a ****. 1) sometime the motor moving this blade gets disallign or some fine sand or dust or sometimes even one finds something liquid sticking the movement of the blade. just opening and cleaning the mechanism solves the problem. 2) in some cases the flexible ribbon cable carrying signal to the assembly gets broken. replacement of the same solves the problem.
I hope you fix your camera successfully.
