Question about JVC KT-SR2000 SIRIUS Radio Receiver
Had this problem with mine. turned out to be bad solder joints. Take the unit apart and solder these joints and it should fix the display problem.

I solved the problem by buying another unit off craigslist and swapping the lcd displays. took ten minutes.
the sr2000 and sr3000 use the same lcd display. buy either one. desolder the two leads for the backlight and gently pop off the ribbon connector behind the lcd. reverse to reinstall the lcd display
I have an sr3000. i bought a used sr2000. actually, i got the boombox and a sr2000 for $50. i was willing to pay jvc $20-$30 for a new lcd so it seemed like a decent deal. $20 for a donor sr2000 and $30 for the boombox?
when i took apart the original broken lcd, i was unable to get the led backlight to work correctly. when applying voltage (from 3 to 5 volts) the leds would be very inconsistent. 1 on, 3 on, full brightness, minimal brightness. I wanted to make up a new backlight myself but couldnt figure out if there was some secret circuitry in each led. there are 10 leds on a thin strip of circuit board, each embedded in epoxy. it looks like the leds are all wired in parallel.
also, note that theres this large silver part in the sr2000 and sr3000. it is the serialized part. so if you just want another receiver and dont want to officially activate, you can swap this part into your new sr2000 or sr3000. when i first bought the donor sr2000, i popped in the silver part to see what would happen. what happened was that i had a fully working sr2000. But... i wanted my sr3000.
