my dvd rom is not working properly and I need to install its' device driver. how do I download driver software for PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-K17LF ATA Device DVD-RW not recognized

Go to the Pioneer web site and go through the menu of things that are there, find downloads, and follow the sub menu's to find your player.

this should do it for you, fixed my problem with the same thing. Ive been goin wherever i looked for a solution and posting this, hopefully it works for the rest of you guys too.

in the askiris part of the toshiba site i just copied and pasted "pioneer dvd-rw dvr-k17lf ata device" and the bottom option is most likely what you want.

it's look like you have problem with dvd isnot showing in windows explorer / dvd driver.

Try this step from microsoft http://support.microsoft.com/KB/314060

basicly just update (delete some key) the windows registry and restart. ussually this work ok.

window cannot start hardware device because its configuration information( in the registry)is incomplete or damaged (code 19)
