Question about Sony Grand WEGA KDF-50WE655 50" Rear Projection HDTV

1 Answer

Flashing green light, then green light stays on with no picture

Hello - When I turned my Sony Wega KDF-50WE655 50 inch TV on today, the green light blinked for about 30 seconds to a minute. It then turned to a permanent green light with no picture. There is not anything indicating that the bulb is out, but I have had the bulb for 2.5 years now and use the TV pretty frequently.

Me too. We just had Sony in to replace the bulb and they had to also do something with the lens. TV worked great for about a month and now this.

Problem for Sony Grand WEGA KDF-55WF655. Hello,

5 times Red LED blinks means Lamp Driver Error. (KDF-55WF655)
2 possible reasons, either Lamp is gone or Ballast Supply got bad.
Replace lamp first, in most cases it solved the problem.
How old is this TV and did you replaced lamp recently?
Thanks.

TV won't turn on and green light is solid.

My Dad suggested unplugging the television as it might need to reset itself. We unplugged it, let it sit while I cleaned the back with the vacuum cleaner, plugged it back in and it works fine now.

Green flashing is normal. Red flashes are error codes. Count the error flashes.

3x - Lamp cover position or cover detect switch bad.
4x - One or more fans failed RPM test
5x - Lamp power supply/ballast failure
6x - Thermal fuse failed (usually)
