Question about Kenmore 44832 Front Load Washer

HF signal on a Sears Kenmore He3 washer

In running a load of wash, within the first minute of cycle, the HF signal will come on. I've done the 2 suggestions in the owner's manual--check the hoses and unplug/reset the machine. Water is getting into the machine and it seems I need to go through the unplug/reset of the machine before it will finally continue with the cycle. It's been suggested by other owners that I try to "unclog" the drain filter at the bottom right on front of the machine but I don't know how to remove the panel or what to do with the drain filter. Any ideas?

The solution posted by johnychel is easily available on the website. I am a mom--not a repair person so I don't know how verify pressure switches, flow meters or ccu operation. I'm looking for the specific details on how to extract the front panel and get to the drain filter.

Hello mdmom,
Looking at the pictures of the machine on websites, I would guess that if you grip the top edges of the lower front panel it will swing downwards, and then perhaps lift away.

There are some not-very-complimentary reviews about the pump filter - or lack of one - here:
http://www.epinions.com/content_400663219844

I hope this helps you a bit. Doesn't the user manual tell you how to open the front panel? D

If the control has turned the water valves on and after 8 minutes the flow meter has detected 10.5 gallons of water passing through it, but has not detected the pressure switch trip, the valves will be turned off and the error code will flash.

Press PAUSE/CANCEL twice to clear the display.

  • If there is no water in the unit:
    1. Make sure that both valves at the water source(s) are turned on all the way.
    2. Check for plugged or kinked inlet hoses or plugged screens in the inlet valves
    3. Verify inlet valve operation
  • If there is water in the unit:
    1. Verify Drain pump operation
    2. Pressure Switch Hose is in good condition and properly connected to Tub and Pressure switch
  • Verify there is not a siphon problem
  • Verify wire harness connections to:Inlet Valves, Pressure Switch, Drain Pump, Flow Meter, and Central Control Unit (CCU)
  • Check all hoses for possible leaks
  • Verify pressure switch operation
  • Verify flow meter operation
  • Verify CCU operati

Sorry the link does not work, I report from jsrock516:
"The "F/H" error code can be attributed to a number of things.

If NO water is in the washer:

    - Check the inlet hoses for kinks or clogs.

    - Check the water inlet valve for clogs and clean the inlet screens.

If there IS water in the washer:

    - Verify the Drain Pump turns on.

    - Verify the Pressure switch hose is in good condition and is connected
properly from the tub to the switch. The hose is an air hose that is
attached to the wash tub on the right-hand side (facing in from the
front - with the lower panel removed) and runs to the pressure switch
(located in the rear of the washer on the right-hand side - facing from
the front, with the top panel removed). Make sure the hose is attached
at both ends and has no leaks.

    - Make sure you don't have a siphon problem. This occurs if you place
the drain hose into the standpipe at the wall too far. If the drain
hose sits in the standpipe in a manner where there is no air gap (i.e.,
drain hose sitting in the waste trap, or fits too tight at the top to
allow air in the pipe) water will start to siphon out of the machine as
it fills. This is a common problem.

    - Check the flowmeter to see if it is operating properly. The flowmeter
is white cylindrical device located near the inlet valve that senses
water flow into the washer and tells the presssure switch to cut off.
If the flowmeter fails, the pressure switch does not receive the
correct input signal and the washer generates an error code.

In a nutshell, check the easy things, first. I would begin with making
sure the inlet hoses are not clogged or kinked and the make sure the
drain hose is not causing a siphon issue. Then follow the recommended
    steps mentioned above.

You can place the washer in diagnostics mode for troubleshooting by
selecting DRAIN/SPIN, NO/SPIN and then press any button under OPTIONS 4
times (must be the same button). The washer display will change to
"C00" and start a series of tests. For a complete list of error codes
and diagnostics procedures, look inside the lower panel under the door.
There should be a tech sheet somewhere inside the washer that explains
    all of this in detail.

If it's not a simple hose issue, I suspect you may have a flowmeter
problem, or an air hose leaking to the pressure switch. These are the
more common problems I have found associated with this error. I hope
this helps you. Post back if you have any further questions."
    thanks Js

In this case check the last pages of your user manual, there you will find a phone number to get service support in your area , and to eventually validate guaranty if you are still in time.
Or try to track customer service contact from

Sears.comIf you cannot find the number, ask us telling your location, we will find the number for you.

I have a kenmore he3 the erroe code says "sud" can

SUDS LOCK (to much detergent detected during the wash cycle)

he motor control unit senses a suds lock condition by analyzing the current draw on the drive motor. If "Sud" is displayed a potential suds lock is detected. This may signify a bad pump, an extra heavy load, excessive detergent, or excessive suds.

Potential Causes

• If too much detergent was used, run the unit through a Rinse/ Spin cycle then a Normal cycle without adding any detergent. This should clear the unit of the excess detergent.
• Check the drain hose and make sure it is not plugged or kinked.

Kenmore Elite HE3 front loader F-11 and FDL codes

yes!! the F/11 is triggered under high voltage conditions like high speed spinning. The part is called the MCU motor control unit. if it goes into failure while using your machine and locks the door, just wait 3 minutes and the door will unlock after the MCU resets. Try using you machine with a low speed spin for awhile.

Takes almost 2 hours to complete a wash cycle

Have you ever cleaned it out? Its likely due to a plugged drain, not allowing the system to drain fast enough for the normal cycle. Check out my solution on

Kenmore front loading HE3 makes knocking sounds during spin cycle

Ours started knocking several months ago and then progressed to a high pitched sound when in the spin cycle. I manually turned the drum and heard and felt a bearing roughness. I lifted the drum assembly and felt a fair amount of play, which I think the initial knocking noise came from. On the sears web site a new rear drum mount cost 293.00. Today we went and bought a LG model wm2455hw at Home depot, on sale until 2/20/08. I couldn't see paying to repair a machine that only lasted four years.
