Ok. Look at where you connect the mic to... Is it color coded, then make sure the mic is in the pink hole....

That should work...

Hi I have just bought an Aspire 5732Z to discover when skyping that it has no built in microphone. Yet!!! it has a webcam etc. what is the story should i return it to the seller. I pointed out that I...

The Acer Aspire 5732Z does have a built in mic. In the event a quick start guide and user manual did not come in the box when you purchased your notebook, they can be downloaded here:

http://support.acer.com/us/en/product/default.aspx?tab=2&modelId=1246

There are 2 separate download links one for the quick start guide and one for the user manual.

You need to configure audio settings in Skype. Once you have Skype open, go to tools>options>audio settings. Once there it will allow you to set up audio settings on your pc. You can select the default mic (and automatically adjust the mic settings) select your speakers( and auto adjust your speaker settings.) Once you select your settings click on save.

My built-in microphone does not work

Use your system restore on the control panel. Enter the date to restore as the date you remember the microphone working. Run the program. If you don't remember when the mic last worked or had never used the mic, keep setting the date back on system restore unti yor mic is operational.l

Is there a decibel meter program for Windows? Hi, I've got a quick question.. is there software that would work on my laptop (which has a built in microphone) where I could bring it out to my car so I...

There is software - by TERMLAB that can do it - but it requires a special callibrated microphone - and runs about $650

You will not get anywhere CLOSE with a standard PC mic.

Yourr next option is an Audiocontrol RTA SA-3050a. These can be had on eBay for about $350 - but if you are looking to measure more than 12db, you will need the DB add on mic. for about $250

Finally - there is a piece by audiocontrol which is basically an epicenter and RTA all in one. It is the EPIC-160 which has a built in digital display RTA that measures up to 160db. $175 is the cheapest i have seen on ebay CLICK HERE TO SEE

There is no softrware you can use on a laptop for this purpose - without a decent mic.
TrueRTA offers a free RTA... but again, most mics cant cope with higher SPL... so your readings will be inaccurate.

Generic ones at radioshack only measure about 130db.

i recommend the Audiocontrol Epicenter piece - as you get bass restoration AND the ability to measure SPL.

Thanks for using FixYa!!

Hiiiiiiiiiiii i havu buy a compaq 785tu note book pc is ther any mic drivers for that? my voice is not heared by another person but there voice is heared by me is there any solution for that? i am using...

If you have your sound card drivers installed, it should work. The microphone settings are touchy...Download Skype, and use the call test feature while you are trying different settings for your mic in the control panel. That way you can hear what your setups are actually doing. I am experienced tech, and working with my mics has even given me headaches at times. Make sure you have the right jacks set as default, and check your settings on the control panel. YOu don't need extra drivers.

Hp compaq 110 , mic is not working on windows messenger ,its a built in mic ,, it works when im not on messenger. and i have tried the setting on windows messenger but it cant pick up the sound.

It may not be a microphone issue, but a messenger version used by either you or your contact.
I got the same problem before.
One of my contacts couldn't hear me while using messenger, but I could talk to "others" on my same messenger.
Once that contact upgrade its messenger the problem was solved..!

Microphone set up

Hi,
You should probably try reinstalling your sound drivers.
If thats not the case then there might be somethin wrong with your microphone jack.

Microphone Problem with Vista

Hi,
Do you Have Any settings Via Control Panel Or Similar, to check to see if the mic isn,t Muted ?
I,m not too up on Vista but have experience With 95/98/2000 And XP.
I,d also assume that there is Troubleshooting facility with Vista.
Also Is the microphone plugged into the correct Jack/Socket ?
