If you do not already have the firmware file then first go to this link to download and bookmark the site as it is difficult to find through Motorola's main website:
http://broadband.motorola.com/consumers/support/default.asp?supportSection=DiscontinuedProducts
Once you have the firmware in a folder that you can remember then go to Start>Run>type 'http://192.168.10.1' and a logon window appears.
Username: motorola
Password: admin
A webpage appears with tabs across the top. The last tab is 'Firmware Update'. Select that tab and follow the instructions which will ask for the location of the update. Browse to the folder where you placed the firmware file and continue with the directions to run the firmware, paying close attention to having your power remain on until the update is confirmed. Also on the Motorola downloads web site glean all of the documentation you can as these are discontinued hardware items. Hope this helps. Steve Medley

The following wireless access points/routers have been tested for use with the SoundBridge and SoundBridge Radio. While Roku is unable to provide testing results for all available wireless access point and routers, the vast majority will work fine with your SoundBridge product. We encourage you to try using your SoundBridge with your existing wireless equipment, regardless of published result before replacing your current hardware.
The current SoundBridge models, M1001 (connections on the back) and SoundBridge Radio R1000, use different wireless hardware than the older M1000, M500 and M2000 models (connections under the endcaps). This newer hardware has proven considerably more reliable than the older wireless hardware and should work out-of-the-box with virtually any 802.11b-compatible wireless equipment you may have. Compatibility of the older hardware has been improved over time and we recommend that you upgrade your SoundBridge's software to the latest version as soon as possible, particularly if your SoundBridge was delivered with software older than version 2.3.44. Upgrading older software may require using a wired ethernet connection or even taking your SoundBridge to a neighbors house or your office to sucessfully perform the upgrade.
To check your software version and perform an upgrade, use your SoundBridge remote control to navigate to the menu Change Library or Configuration -> System Configuration -> Software Version and Updates and follow the on-screen instructions.
If you still experience Wi-Fi connection problems, check the following items:
  • Make sure your access point/router is configured to allow 802.11b devices to connect. This may be phrased as "Mixed mode" or "802.11b +802.11g".
  • If you have wireless security enabled, make sure it is a supported protocol, and make sure you are using the "Hex" key. See your SoundBridge manual for more information.
If, after checking these items, you still cannot get your SoundBridge to connect to your wireless network, we encourage you to contact support or visit our Roku Community Forums where other customers and Roku employees will attempt to help you.
Bold = recommended by Roku for use with the latest version of SoundBridge software.
Red = poor performance or incompatible with SoundBridge
* = customer tested - your results may differ.

first of all check what is the default gateway you are getting in your computer in xp go to start>run>type cmd>hit enter ,,,in cammand prompt type ipconfig........type this default gateway address in internet explorer.......if it goes to search page,,,,type the command "start iexplore gateway address "in the command prompt...If still does not open you need to unplug the power from router for 30 seconds,,,if still does not that means firmware of router is corrupted ,,you need to reset the router and then upgrade the firmware as well

I have to constantly reboot the router to get on the net ...what is causing this ?

I trhink you can try to upgrade the firmware of the router.
Firmware if the software of the router.
Did you try to connect it directly to the modem.
you can connect the computer directly to the modem and check whether it is working properly through the modem.
If you need to restart the modem constantly then it could be the issue with the ISP or the modem.

MOTOROLA WIRELESS BROADBAND ROUTER 850G

Yeah that WR850_6.1.4.trx is the one that you need to install. That's a firmware for your router. You need to login to the Setup Page of the router then look for Firmware Upgrade category. It will then ask you to browse for WR850_6.1.4.trx file then hit upgrade.

My ipod touch wont connenct to the internet

Go to Start>Run and type 'http://192.168.10.1', a logon screen appears. User name is: motorola, Password is: admin. A webpage appears which is the router control panel. Now you can talk to your router. If you are using cable broadband then use DHCP, for DSL use PPPoE. All of your Basic, LAN, Wireless, Status, Gaming, Security and Firmware updates are here. For more info and manuals/downloads for your router go here:

XBox 360 not compatible with Motorola WR850G

Motorola WR850G router may fail to connect to xbox live after update to firmware 6.1.4. I was able to correct the problem. My solution was
Go in xbox >> network config >> IP and use Static option. Set the xbox to an IP in the range allowed by your router configuration. The router IP config range is found in the router config web >> Lan section. Then I set my router config >> Routing >> DMZ IP Address setting to the xbox ip I just assigned to my xbox. Restart router using the restart button on the Basic page of router config. Restart your xbox and attempt to login to xbox live. This solved my problem.

As a side note, on the xbox networking test page, the xbox live status message will allows show they are aware of a problem with xbox live login. This is a lie. For that reason I postponed trying to fix my router problem thinking it was an xbox issue, it is not. Once you finally connect to xbox live you will still notice this incorrect message remains. If the wireles led is turned OFF, either the wireless is turned OFF in the router's settings or the wireless portion is not working anymore. You may contact contact motorolla for this or your ISP (if the ISP has provided the router) good luck
