One of the most common errors in Windows is the USB Device NotRecognized malfunction. Thankfully, this is not in any way poses athreat to the security of your system though sometimes it may causeyour system to "hang" or experience delays. The USB Device NotRecognized error simply means that your computer cannot distinguish theUSB device that is inserted in one of the USB slots of the computer. There are different reasons why one's system gets this error. Asidefrom the attached devices at the USB slots, it is also possible thatthere is a malfunction in the host controller hardware. Moreover, thecomputer may not support the USB 2.0 that's why this error pops up atthe screen. There are also some system configurations or hardware thatare experiencing glitches as well. But you can try different ways to resolve this error so that youwould not have to deal with the pop up message "USB Device NotRecognized". If there is any connected USB device, gently unplug it from theslot. It might be loose that's why the error appeared. Wait for acouple of seconds before you plug the device again. Make sure that itis secured at the port. You can also use the Device Manager so your system can scan and lookfor the new hardware. Open the Start menu then choose Run. Typedevmgmt.msc at the box then clicks Enter. Once the Action menuappeared, choose Scan for Hardware Changes. It will allow your systemto look for newly installed devices. But if these techniques didn't resolve the error, you can tryunplugging the USB device from the port before shutting down thecomputer. Don't open it again immediately and wait for at least twentyminutes or so. However, if you still can't seem to fix the USB DeviceNot Recognized malfunction you may need to update your driver instead. You should know the website of the manufacturer so you will check outthe latest about the driver information. It would just take a couple ofminutes before you can get the updated driver information so you canstop the error from appearing from time to time.
Firstly, you should check up when you attach a device to your computer, if there is an error message showing up at the right bottom of the desktop which says "USB Device Not Recognized". If so, you must haven't install the driver of the device properly or the driver is damaged.
Then you will need to download a new one from the website of the manufacturer and install it on your PC. Then the hardware will be recognized by Windows system and be able to work.
If there is no error message "USB Device Not Recognized" showing up, that means your USB driver is damaged or outdated. USB driver is used for detecting USB devices. Without it, Windows system will not be able to detect and recognize any USB hardware. The only way to solve the problem is to install a new USB 2.0 driver for your computer.
No matter which issue it is, the problem always result from outdated or damaged device drivers. To solve and avoid hardware not working problems is to update the drivers regularly. Because all drivers have bugs more or less and lead to a lot of unexpected computer errors. Chipset manufacturers, like NVIDIA, ATI, Intel and so on, update and release new drivers for their products.
So you just need to download and install new ones for your computer.
Did this suddenly start to occur? Were they working before? If so, it is very simple - shut down computer, remove the battery and unplug any power source, wait a couple of minutes and reassemble and power up. Wala! I read all kinds of complicated instructions, started with the simple, and problem solved.
This solution worked for me when I got the USB device not recognized message: http://www.infobarrel.com/USB_Port_Repair It can be quite frustrating. I've heard that older computers are more likely to have the USB device not recognized message.
One of your usb devices has more than likely has had a driver get corrupted. Try unplugging your devices one by one until you find the culprit. Once identified download and install the latest driver for that device. this should correct your problem. Good luck.
just because it says it doesn't recognise it doesn't mean it won't work. Plus if it's a device needing drivers you should download and install the drivers first then attach the usb cable. Go to the manufacturers website and find the drivers for the product downloading and installing the proper ones for the version of windows you have.
Also if you had listed what it was.... make and model could've given you a link to the drivers
uninstall driver then turn off the PC then unplug the power cord from power socket, short its legs then leave it unconnected for 5min, then reconnect it to power socket and turn on PC and install driver it should work :)
