Question about Bissell 1699 ProHeat Clear View Upright Steam Vacuum

Not sucking up dirty water

I believe my Proheat should be sucking up more dirty water. The brushes are working and it does **** up somewhat. However, it doesn't even come close to filling the dirty tank. Is there a way to get more suction?

Sounds like the suction motor is not working correctly. Either clogged with dirt or objects or it is failing.

Check this first:

Not suctioning properly, first check the motor duct gasket. To check this, first remove the tank and place your hand over the rubber square opening.

If your machine does have suction at the duct, continue to check the following:

Ensure the Ready Tools Dial is set to the appropriate setting (Floor Cleaning or Hose Attachments).

Remove the tank from the machine and ensure the tank lid is attached properly. The front window must first hook onto the lip of the bottom of the tank and then drape over the tank. Latch the bottom tank to the top tank lid. THIS LID CANNOT BE
ATTACHED PROPERLY IF THE TANK IS NOT REMOVED FROM THE MACHINE.

Make sure the Water Tank is not full on the outside of the bladder. If it is, empty the tank.
Ensure the hose is firmly attached to the back of the machine. If not, re-insert as necessary by twisting into place.

The machine must be in an upright, locked position and set to the Hose Attachment setting. If the handle is slightly tilted back while using, it will create a small gap at the suction inlet (where handle meets gasket, above the Bottom Tank) which will cause little or no suction.

Check the red Tank Lint Screen for debris. If the Lint Screen is dirty, the unit will have poor suction. Clean the Lint Screen if necessary.

If the float flap door in the tank lid is activating prematurely when you turn the machine on, this flap door should be replaced.
Check the Tank Lid and Tank for damage.

If there is no suction there, please take your machine to a BISSELL Authorized Service Center for inspection.

Doesn't return the dirty water to the tank, after apply the water

My Bissel has been having problems sucking the dirty water back into the tank. It's like it works for half a dozen uses and then just stops working. After I turn it on and off for a couple of hours trying to troubleshoot the issues it just starts working out of the blue again and sucks up the dirty water. I know there is a yellow stopper that goes up and can stop the flow but that's down and not the issue here.

Brushes will not spin

There is a motor for the brushes, it may be bad. If no suction, there is a gasket on top of the back cover that may be missing leaving a gap and losing suction.

Bissell 1699 ProHeat Clearview Steam Cleaner won't pick up

Usually if the water isn't being sucked up is either the filter in the lid of the tank is clogged, or the gasket that sits on top of the clear window nozzle and the tank is missing.

Hose Attachment

On the clean / dirty water tank there is a red lint lint filter, this is on the upper part of the tank,
If this is blocked it reduces the suction ,this must be free from debris,
If you are using the turbo brush ,
there is a sliding switch on the brush, This diverts the suction from the brush to the nozzle of the attachment ,
You should see the dirty water traveling up the hose ,
You should only use bissells own cleaning solution as using another product would null your guarantee
