We have had problems with power - load-shading (on / offs)

make sure you installed the software properly..sometimes some software requires you connect the printer first then install software...other times you install software first then install printer....make sure the settings are set up the same on the printer and computer....make sure all connections are secure..check owners manual...
TRY THIS! Ok, unpug and place in dark cupboard out of sight for a week. Its been a bad boy.
Try not to think about it( I know you will) and contemplate other nice things.
Its good to drop a problem for a while, then start afresh (BTW i'm in Adelaide Aust)

I have found you need to be very accurate with the placement of the of the paper guide box and ensure it is completely locked in to ensure the printer will turn on. This is the manual feed box at rear of the printer. Cheers Yoga2
When I printed powerpoint documents on a hp deskjet 1280 it failed to print lines. I found that this problem could be solved by changing the transparency attribute of the line to 50%. The transparency attribute of a line or shape can be found by clicking on the sequence format/shape-outline/more-outline-colours/transparency at the top of the screen
