It seems unprofessional that Bosch, or any tankless manufacturer, would suggest self-installment when each tankless manufacturer pointedly says their product should be install and maintained by person specifically trained by manufacturer. Especially when it is widely known that self-installed units can void the warranty.

That being said.
Cover on your unit should come off. Unit is attached to wall with screws/toggles at each corner.
Gas line (assuming gas heater) should have a union located on gas line near tankless unit.
Hot and cold pipes are located on bottom of unit.
Vent stack is attached to top.

Specific plumbing techniques are used for each item shown above.
If you are not fully qualified to work with gas appliances, or have no plumbing experience, I suggest taking advantage of fixya paid service where expert walks you through each step while you work on unit.
But you need the tools and vocabulary, and remember the expert cannot see what you are doing or know exactly what you are talking about.

Frankly, if you are not qualified, call a service technician.

Let's see, your original question said 'any help.' And you asked for a free answer. And wanted the free expert to go look up your model number at Bosch since you did not say gas or electric. And of course you did not say the brand either. And then complain that you got less than best answer. Let me say something. Your lax attention to detail tells me you should be wary of installing a tankless, which was the main point of the answer. Next time, post a clear and fully disclosed question, and then bring your checkbook and pay for interactive answer from fixya, so experts don't have to guess at your situation, and you get satisfaction of helping the economy.

Change o ring

I just tried to replace one of the o-rings on an AE125. The old original one came out distorted do to the fact that there's no groove to hold the o-ring in a uniform position.
Even though I was careful and evenly tightened the cap screws,
the new o-ring started leaking an hour after I had left the job.
My opinion is the mounting of the metal lid to the plastic tank is a bad design.
Good luck on your repairs.

Bosch AE125 no hot water, blinking light

Hey Andy. Do you have your owners manual? There should be a section near the back that will break down the diagnostic code the flashing light is giving you. If not remove the front cover and look inside should be a wiring diagram and light legend.

I have a bosch ae115tankless waterheater - the neon light will flash when turned on but when i reset the breaker it will work? any ideas/

Flashing light means bad control unit..or your flow is too low. If you have a couple fixtures on, and its still blinking, the board needs to be replaced.

We need to replace the 6 way terminal on our Powerstar A125 tankless hot water heater due to a loose wire that got hot and melted the terminal at the end. How do you do this. We have the part to rep

What happened to the screws from the old terminal strip?
If it is a different size you need to drill new small holes in the box (not the tank or pipes) and attach it with self tapping screws. Make sure each wire of the unit matches the same wire being connected as the original connections.

Our second unit just failed and needs a new controller more money

The only Bosch tankless I have ever touched have been the 3 I have taken out and replaced with Rinnai. I think Bosch/Paloma/etc. have two problems:

1. They do not properly certify technicians before allowing them to install these units.

2. Their product is mediocre at best.

The biggest problem I've seen is that people don't vent them properly. The last one I pulled out had a combined vent length of 55'. 55 FEET! Absurd!
The units was condensing so much inside the vent that it washed out 2 gas control valves in ONE YEAR.

Buy Rinnai, buy Takagi, buy Noritz....maybe even a Navien (new player...time will tell)

Factory certified technicians, preferably equipped to do the gas & plumbing without having to sub it out.

Years of trouble-free hot water.

Good Luck.

PowerStar AE125 seems to have failed

You have a blown element. If you purchased the heater, call Bosch for technical assistance, and the unit should be under warranty. The grey matter your getting is the magnesium that the elements have in them.

Bosch ae125-re tankless water heaters

My experience in Germany with tankless water heaters was not good; the delivery promised was only vaguely warmed water; they are no replacement for standard devices.
If you can find closet or under-counter (in the kitchen) space you might look into the 20 gallon units made for RVs or small mobile homes/campers. They are not expensive to run and cost well below the ~ $400 US price I saw when looking at the Bosch. If you are worried about the efficiency of them or concerned with the cost of electricity in your area, you could have an electrician install a high-capacity (15-20 Amp) toggle switch (looks like a normal light switch) and manually turn it off completely when it is unused for a longer period of time.
In any case, before you jump on the Bosch bandwagon, check the degree (or lack) of satisfaction from current owners:

I wouldn't be encouraged to buy that one.
