Are you holding the reset button in for a full 30 seconds? I know it sounds odd, but that's how they're doing it now.

Give it a try and let us know. When you do, please form your reply as adressing the expert in question, such as:
"worldvet: that didn't work any other ideas?"

I HAVE A SC-HC30DB SYSTEM AND IT'S NOT LETTING ME IN THE DAB MENU,DAB NOT WORKING ALL WORKING OK OTHERWISE.

I had the same problem - you can fix with a system reset. Unplug the unit at the wall and wait 2-3 mins, then plug in and switch on while holding the power button - the display will be blank for at first, but will eventually display '---------------------'. Release the power button and switch the unit on as normal. Press the Dab button and the unit will start to auto-search for channels. Give it a few minutes and you'll be back in action :)

I believe you need the remote because I wasn't able to figure it out without it. Hit the clock button, then memory button. The hours should be flashing now. Use fast forward/rewind to change the hours. Hit memory again. Then do the same for minutes. Hit memory one last time and you should be all set.

FM tuner flashes 5Y and frequency display flashes. No sound. Any thoughts

This a memory problem ,try to look for the reset button and press it . If you can't find the reset button then the other option is unplug the unit for 24 hours the purpose is to reset and dessipate or drain the charged current .Feel free to ask me whatever the result,so i was updated and willing to help..

Hope it may help you;;

Sharp XL-HP505 CD players won't open.

Hi,
I don't know what the code is but have you pushed the reset button. If you do push it you will have to reprogram the unit. Otherwise it will have to go in for service
Hope this helps

Lights flash on the unit at night making it hard to sleep!

The power button does nothing in relation to this!!! Press the x-bass/demo button at the bottom of the remote. That should fix the blinking lights! :)

"NO DISC" reading

Try this CD realignment process built into the Sharp XL HP505: Have unit off.
Hol down the square (stop) button and the X-BASS button while pressing the ON button. This starts the CD TEST. press play, the memory, then memory, memory, memory, adjustment lights will come on the screen. FOF, TOF, TBAL, TGAN, FGAN, RFLS. press cd1 - track 4, press cd2 - track 9, press cd3 - track 15. Press square (Stop).

If all the cd trays are full, then will light up . This worked for me.

Unresponsive buttons

First, try unplugging the unit for a couple of hours. That should reset the internal microprocessor. If that fails, try pushing all of the buttons one at a time. If one of them is stuck, nothing will work properly. You should be able to feel the button working. Report back here with your results.
