    Hi there,

I have the same problem with my projector. the unit will turn on fine and the fan speed will increase in steps until the unit finally shuts down.

I have tried cleaning the airfilter and have determined that the unit is indeed pushing through a good amount of air, however it has not resolved the situation.

    I have the Sony VLP - EX3.

The unit turns on fine, but after a few minutes the fan sound like its accelerating then the screen turns off and the temp/fan light stays on a yellow colour.

Please can anyone advise what the cause is and the resolution.

I have a vpl-cx10,it starts up and the fans all run for about 3 sec. then i hear a click and it shuts off and the fan/temp light comes on. can anyone help???

Do one thing just reset the lamp hour of you projector. For that do the following

Press the following keys on the control panel in the following order for less than five seconds each
RESET , Left arrow button , Right arrow button, Enter. Remember one thing lamp hour reset is recommended only after replacing the lamp.

if it doesn't help then the lamp of your projector is faulty you have to replace the same.

Press the power button to switch it on, the sony logo lights up and it switches on as per normal operation, it then switches off after a few seconds and the temp/fan light flashes

may be your projectors lamp colling fan have some problem. may be it is get jammed due to dust or it may be faulty. without fan the lamp will get over heated. that's why the temp/ fan lights flashes.
jus check it . need further help feel free to contact.

Attend to the issues. Lamp cover may mean the cover is not fitted correctly or the switch is faulty like wise the fan issue may mean no rotation so it will not start.

Power up

Hi mick1907

Take out your lamp and check for any irregularity like marks or discolouration.

If there is no visible damage - put back the lamp and take of the top cover - start the Projector and check if all your fans are running - that is if the machine starts at all.

If the unit doesn't start up at all you will have to replace the Mainboard.

Hi there

You should first check if there is any visible damage on your lamp. If not then it could be a faulty Ballast ( lamp powersupply )
