Desktop E-Machine ET1161-07. Problem I have grey rectangle in the middle of the screen . It has a volume Icon with a range of volume from 0 to 100. It is showing at 100 (or full volume). I want that icon off my screen because I cannot see what's behind it. There is a page behind it which I cannot access because of this icon. The rectangle does not move at all. I tried to point mouse on it but the mouse goes behind it.

Try to upgrade your drivers from here:

http://support.gateway.com/us/en/emac/product/default.aspx?tab=1&modelId=1299

Especaily for the sound card and the screen card.
It will do no harm to upgrade them all.
Select the newest one.

Hope this was helpfull.

Hold down alt+f4 and select the icon for the program that is giving the volume icon, make a note of the name of the offending program, then press alt+f4 to close the program. Simply go to add/remove programs and remove the program if you want to, or look in its options to disable the volume display.

How do I remove volume icon from the middle of my iPad screen?

You might try this...you can set your side button on upper left corner edge of ipad to either mute volume or lock screen (stop it from rotating). Check how yours is set...Go into settings>general>Use side switch to:
see if it is set on mute. If it is switch it to Lock Rotation. Now that side switch will lock or unlock screen rotation.
See if that might stop your volume icon from popping up. Good luck!

My doughter accidently disable the sound on our laptop, How do I activate it again?

There should be 5 grey buttons at the top of your keyboard and just below your monitor. On the right there should be two with a small speaker icon, one with an X or an \ through it. Press the one with the speaker icon that has the ))) symbols coming from it to turn it back on.

If this doesn't work you should have a speaker icon in the bottom right corner of your desktop screen which may have a red X on it. Right click this and select volume control options and make sure that the "Mute" boxes are not checked off and the volume levels are turned up as you desire.

How do you turn on the volume? Thank You.

1. Press the Fn key and while holding it down, press the F8 key momentarily to toggle muting of the speaker. An icon of the speaker appears at the bottom middle of the screen showing muting on or off.
2. After making sure the muting is off (no slash symbol on the speaker icon), press and hold Fn again.
3. With Fn pressed, press the key with the upward triangle and speaker symbol to increase volume which is shown at the bottom middle of the screen by the green lettering & vertical bars Volume ''''''''''''
4. With Fn pressed, press the key with the downward triangle and speaker symbol to decrease volume which is shown at the bottom middle of the screen by the green lettering & vertical bars Volume '''
