Question about Canon PowerShot A510 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Power Over the last few weeks I have had issues with the batteries. I found that the "Eveready" brand certainly doesnt work (I am currently in India and it is hard to find anything here!) and I just went through 3 sets of Duracells but after a short period of time it tells me to change the batteries. I just changed them with new Duracells but when I turn the camera on it wont let me get past that initial little birdy which is the start up screen. I also just noticed that my zoom lens thinger is now in half way position - neither fully open like when I take picture, nor closed when I am viewing pics. Any ideas as to what's going on?

Thanks "welcomejee", I will give a shot. I guess I was trying to get around that solution only because I am on a limited budget and they aren't cheap around here ;-) But, I will try! (cheaper than buying a new camera huh?)

I am in Pune 411004 in India and have purchased Samsung digital es 15 camera recently. Original 2 aa Alkaline batteries have been completely used up.when I replaced these with 2 new eveready batteries...

Solution: As digital cameras become more advanced and include more features, the power needed to keep them functioning has also increased. That means that typical alkaline batteries likely won’t do more than power your camera for a few shots before running out of juice. Sometimes, your digital camera may not power on at all if the inserted alkaline batteries aren’t fully charged or powerful enough. Rather than carry along dozens of alkaline batteries for a single photo shoot, you can save money by purchasing rechargeable NiMH (nickel-metal hydride) batteries. Rechargeable batteries can be purchased with a charger that you plug into a wall outlet, and they fully charge in one to five hours depending on the charger and the type of batteries you’re using.

If you’re already using rechargeable batteries but are experiencing short battery life with your digital camera, it’s likely time to replace your rechargeable batteries with new ones. Depending on the number of charging cycles you perform (how many times you discharge and recharge your batteries), rechargeable batteries typically last for two to three years before they no longer hold a full charge. You may also ensure that you’re charging your rechargeable batteries directly before use. As batteries sit unused for extended periods of time, they automatically lose some of their charge.

There are many ways you can conserve battery life while using your digital camera, too. For starters, if your camera has a viewfinder in addition to an LCD, use the viewfinder to frame your shots and turn the LCD off because LCDs draw a lot of power. If you prefer to use the LCD, you can still conserve battery life if you refrain from looking at each picture on the screen after you take it.

Sony DSC H5 runs down batteries very rapidly. Much faster than when the camera was originally purchased. A pair of new AA batteries only lasts for 12 - 24 photos. Brand new rechargeables fully charged are...

Hi there please reset the camera 1st . THen pair your battery with your camera. Go in menu then battery type option. Select the type of a battery. After that save the setting. Now try . If you face the same problem then the camera internal power transformer are damaged or week. So you need to replace that transformer after that it will start work properly. You use that camera so long, that's why there is a chance of that damaged. Thanks if its helpful then rating me.

Cameras continually die around me.

I think the camera must have been discharging the batteries, since you said you have used a rechargeable batteries, and second do you remove the batteries from the camera whenever it is unused, because leaving it inside the camera when not use can diminish the power contained in the battery. Try to study the camera again by making sure the rechargeable batteries you are using are fully charge and kindly try to be removing the battery from the camera whenever you are not using it and see if it works.

Brand new long life AA batteries only lasting 15mins

Hi there.
This is a common problem with just about any digital camera out there (even my own).
After spending loads of money on top named brands and types i found that Duracell Alkaline batteries lasted just about the longest in my camera which is a Samsung S 500. Even so i would advise that you stock on them because the camera's do tend to eat the battery power.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!

Battery problem with Canon A560 digital camera

The problem is the batteries that you're currently using. They just don't have the power needed to run the camera, sometimes even if brand new and just out of the package. Digital cameras are power hungry, especially those that run on only two AA batteries (like your A560). You need to use the best batteries that are available. I recommend NiMH rechargeable batteries, power rated at 2,500 mah or better. They are 3 to 4 times more powerful than regular batteries. They will also quickly save you money as they can be used over and over again for years.

Try another set of well batteries. I had the same problem with well known, brand new batteries and changed over to disposable AA Lithium batteries and never had the problem again. I have also found that the Lithium batteries last much longer than my rechargebles or the "six-times-longer" brand.
