Wireless networks use security/encryption to keep wireless networks limited to those who have the passphrase. If you never set up your wireless network on your Netgear wireless router, you'll need to access it by connecting directly to the router via an ethernet cable, then opening a web browser and type in the management IP address of the router. I think the default address will look something like this for Netgears...
http://192.168.0.1 OR
http://192.168.1.1
When prompted for a Username and Password, enter the default username and password (admin; password)
This link has more information on how to do this.

You may want to do a reset on the router by holding down the reset button on the back of your router. That will reset and MAC address filtering or any other security that you might have turned on.
