Question about IBM ThinkPad 600E 2645 Notebook
Hi i hope you can help me, i have a ibm e600 laptop, the screen has gone very dark black but not off as i can still just about make out the icons on the desktop, it eventully shuts down. i have replaced the inverter but this has not worked. i am thinking of replacing the screen but wonder if it might be a bad connection to the screen? hope you can help!
There is a possibility it is your backlight because the laptop is probably older than 3 years, then you have to replace the ccfl lamp of the screen. It is a difficult repair but it can be done, if you look for guides online you will find something. I work for company that does Laptop repair in NYC and we do this repair frequently.

With these machines the inverter is always first on the list. Since you've ruled this out, it's going to be the screen or cable. I'm leaning towards the screen. Inspect the cable and connectors thoroughly for any flaws that may create a bad connection. Generally when this occurs and the inverter is ruled out it's the back light in the screen versus the cable. The screen is a sealed unit so the back light cannot be changed out. I suggest a new screen. I browsed Ebay and you can get a screen with the cable for under $40, I'd go that route.
