Question about Dell 924 All-in-One InkJet Printer
Printer copies are smudged(black)
Check if you are using refilled cartridges and have any leaks (may need a cleaning) or if the paper has been exposed to high humidity. You can test by running a few sheets through from a new **** of paper and seeing if the smudging goes away.

It's more than likely a scratch on the photoconductor unit. I had to replace one last week. If you have a spare, try to replace it to confirm.

First replace the toner cartridge. If this fixes the issue then you can try and clean off the old one and get it serviceable again.
If not and the problem persists then make sure that you did not spill toner on the fuser itself. Some printers have a cleaning routine, if not you can just print a picture on a full 8.5x11 page and make several copies until they clear up.
If neither of these solutions work. Make sure that the drum was installed correctly and that you installed the correct model drum for your printer.

Normally this is caused by the drum cartridge that fits under the toner. Replacing this drum cartridge will clear up the black marks on your print. Use this Dell Part# : A0373010 to order. After replacing the drum cartridge counter will have to be reset, Use the following steps.
1. Open the front door.
2. Press and hold the cancel button (x button) until all the lights flash in order.
3. Then close the front cover.
This will reset the drum counter.
