How do i put my Vista on a DVD, so i can put it on another computer?

I don't think a Microsoft operating system, including Vista, can be copied. The operating systems are proprietary and licensed by Microsoft, and the product key can not be transferred from one computer to another.

I want to save intallation and install it to another computer

If you still have youir Vista license key and it is retail (not OEM), then you will be able to transfer your installation intact. Use windows vista system (not file) backup to a portable HDD. Also make a rescue disk. Then boot to the rescue disk on the other computer and follow the prompts to recover the main backup you made. You will need your license key to activate the new Vista. You may need to tell Microsoft that your old computer is no longer working to transfer the license. If the old license was OEM, you can't move the license (it is for the life of the original computer/motherboard only), and you will have to buy a Windows 8.1 pro license and migrate your data instead. I have done that from windows Vista 32 bit to Windows 7 64 bit. I used all different types of backups (including Mig, vista file backups, copy my whole profile) and carefully put it all back together. Let me know if you want more help with anything specific.

I am in a company that does not have license for all the computers. Recently we received a letter that lawyers will verify licenses. Can I buy a license from any dealer and have it installed in the Pcs ...

Hi,
That's a great idea and thank you for supporting legal copy of Windows software. My answer to your question is Yes! Definitely, you can buy your own license and install it in your computer. However, I assume that all authorized retailer of Windows are only selling Windows Vista version and up. But if you encounter a store that still sells a legal copy of Windows XP, you can grab that copy. But before buying a software, please check the specification of your computer and make sure that it is compatible with Windows 7, in that way once you have the Bootable CD you will not encounter any problem.
I hope I answered your question.
Thanks a lot!!

I can't get my system recovery disk to work so i can restore my computer to the orginal format

If your recovery CDs have failed you have some options

1. you can call the company who made your computer about a new set of restore discs

2. you can buy an operating system disc such as XP or vista

XP or Vista , Operating System Installation CD will setup the computer nicely , you may need drivers for certan things but not likely.

Malfunctioning restore CDs really **** me off

I just chunk em and load my XP pro disc

( multi machine volume license required if you wanna put it on multible computers )
( same with vista )

but in some cases you may find that XP pro will install on many machines just fine.

Thank you for using FixYa!

Vista

Legally no. Micorsoft states that every Windows machine must have it's own operating system licensed to it.

When setting up new computer, Windows Vista keeps asking for Product key number to secure computer. Will not accept this number that is on the new computer

maybe your vista license is for one computer only that's why will not accept the serial or product key you need to purchase another windows vista software with license
