Its hard to fully explain but you can download this file as an example to how you can solve the problem via running a simple query from which you can copy the new phone numbers for the new phone column and paste it on the old phone column . its just that easy .
go to http://drop.io/dalhelo
download the file ]sample.mdb[

all the best

How to invoke a ms.access using parser

To parse a Text field that contains two words separated by a comma, follow these steps:
  1. Open any existing database.
  2. Create a table with the following structure: Table: Parse2Words
    ------------------
    Field Name: Empl
    Data Type: Text
  3. View the Parse2Words table in Datasheet view and type the following three records in the Empl field: Smith, John
    Callahan, Laura
    Fuller, Andrew
  4. Create the following query based on the Parse2Words table: Query: QueryTest
    ------------------------------------------------------------------
    Field: FirstName: Right$([Empl],Len([Empl])- InStr(1,[Empl],",")-1)
    Show: True
    Field: LastName: Left$([Empl],InStr(1,[Empl],",")-1)
    Show: True

NOTE: You can modify the QueryTest query to account for spaces between the two parts in the Empl field. For example, if the text in the Empl field is "Smith,John" without spaces, remove the -1 from the FirstName field expression.
  5. Run the query. Note that the QueryTest query separates the text in the Empl field into the two fields below: FirstName LastName
    --------------------
    John Smith
    Laura Callahan
    Andrew Fuller

We have an exsisting Access 2003 database. My coworker was given a new computor and now when he trys to use the database he gets the following prompt: "The expression you entered has a function name that...

You are probably missing a private library on the new computer, or have an incomplete installation of Access. Then simple functions like Date() or Trim() don't work, or user defined functions in a private library cannot be found. Your access project probably uses a special library that needs to be copied to the new computer, and it needs to be properly referenced by the Access project.
To see what libraries an Access project has referenced, open any code window (e.g. press Ctrl+G), and choose References from the Tools menu.
If a library is marked MISSING, click the Browse button, and locate the correct file for the library. The table below lists the files for the crucial libraries of your version of Access.
If the library is not even shown, you may need to re-register it. Click the Windows Start button, and choose Run. Enter regsvr32 followed by the full path of the library file. Include quotes if the file name contains spaces, e.g.:
regsvr32 "c:program filescommon filesmicrosoft shareddaodao360.dll"
Occasionally, the problem is not solved until you unregister the library and re-register it. Uncheck the missing library in Access. Close Access. Issue this command, and then the one above to re-register it:
regsvr32 -u "c:program filescommon filesmicrosoft shareddaodao360.dll"
Re-register it (as above). Open Access, and select the library reference again.

What is run time error '-2147467259(80004005)' how i solved it rewati nadan

"The Microsoft Jet Database Engine cannot open the file '(unknown)'"There are several causes for this error message:
  • The account that Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) is using (which is usually IUSR) does not have the correct Windows NT permissions for a file-based database or for the folder that contains the file.
  • The file and the data source name are marked as Exclusive.
  • Another process or user has the Access database open.
  • The error may be caused by a delegation issue. Check the authentication method (Basic versus NTLM), if any. If the connection string uses the Universal Naming Convention (UNC), try to use Basic authentication or an absolute path such as C:\Mydata\Data.mdb. This problem can occur even if the UNC points to a resource that is local to the IIS computer.
  • This error may also occur when you access a local Microsoft Access database that is linked to a table where the table is in an Access database on a network server.
Resolution
  • Check the permissions on the file and the folder. Make sure that you have the ability to create and/or destroy any temporary files. Temporary files are usually created in the same folder as the database, but the file may also be created in other folders such as the WINNT folder. For additional information about how to identify which folder does not have the correct permissions and how to configure temporary files, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: 253604 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/253604/ ) Microsoft Access 97 database connectivity fails in Active Server Pages If you use a network path to the database (UNC or mapped drive), check the permissions on the share, the file, and the folder.
  • Verify that the file and the data source name (DSN) are not marked as Exclusive.
  • The "other user" may be Microsoft Visual InterDev. Close any Visual InterDev projects that contain a data connection to the database.
  • Simplify. Use a System DSN that uses a local drive letter. If necessary, move the database to the local drive to test.
  • Follow the instructions in the following article to work around this problem: 189408 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/189408/ ) FIX: ASP fails to access network files under IIS 4.0 and IIS 5.0

Have you tried to name the table Tiny_tots? it might make it work. Sometimes programs are funny about letting you have spaces in the name.

Accessing data

Dear reader

Place an ADODC control on your form in VB.
In the properties of the ADODC control goto the TAB General.
click "Use Connection String. With the button Build you can point to your database.
Thats it.

With the following code you can connect to db:

With Adodc
.RecordSource = "SELECT * From YOURTABLE"
.Refresh
End With

Now you have the table in the adodc control.

you can now do this:

Label1.caption = Adodc.Recordset!YOURFIELD

YOURTABLE = the name of your table in the database.
YOURFIELD = the fieldname in YOURTABLE you want to show.

Kind regards Fred.

MS access - how to insert a function in a access table

Have you reached resolution yet? If not I would be happy to help otherwise, I would be interested to know what happened. It sounds like you need to call the date (today) for the appropriate balance to come in automatically - assuming you have a table holding this data. Thanks for rating FixYa!
