Question about Samsung SCH-u740 Cellular Phone

Intermittent call quality

I've had my SCH-U740 (Alias) since November of last year, and recently got an extended battery to go with it. I have dropped the phone recently, multiple times, and now I've had some of my callers say I cut in and out. Verizon said to keep track of it, but it got so bad I went in my drawer and pulled out my LG VX9800. I have been using it in the SAME places I used the Alias, and I have had NO complaints of intermittent call quality. The problem has been happening consistently, too, on almost every call.

Before activating the older phone, I even took the Alias to Verizon where they didn't want to admit a problem with the phone. I even tried getting a replacement for it (before having the idea of activating the VX 9800) and was told I'd have to pay practically new price until July of 2009 for a replacement! I have INSURANCE through them, too.

    I have the same problem. I have had this phone for about fifteen months and it worked fine up until about a month ago. I never had a problem with it inside the house or out. Now my calls are dropped nonstop and the calls I am able to keep are very poor quality. I dont know if its the service or the phone. I've spoken to verizon multiple times and they keep saying they will send out a tech. but that hasn't happened yet.

MY03- your phone could have microphone and antenna problems seeing that the phone had drop so many times.....the curcuit board could have a hairline fracture so it would be best to take it to a mobile repair shop and have them diagnosed it for you....to correct the issues.

DMR - try hard resetting your phone and see if that helps press *2767*3855#

I guess that is a Verizon Cellphone. It is most likely that the LCD has lost grip or contact from the main board or has gone bad . 1. You may disassemble it and check the LCD contact points on both the board and the screen...detatch attach it firmly or
2.You may have to replace the LCD completely.See what the LCD looks like here ....

Alias sch u740 bad reception


hey, make sure that the simcard that you are using is supported by your celphone, the one that they called openline means all networks or simcards can be use with it.

Samsung Alias shutting off


If its not the battery, it sounds like a defect. I would trade it in for another model and be done with the alias.

Unfortunately, you cannot. Verizon phones have integrated SIM cards that you cannot take out. You cant unlock a verizon phone.

Samsung Alias will not charge.


try with another battery. if it charge you have battery problem. if it doesnt you have motherboard problem with phone

White Screen on u740


If it is a Verizon Wireless phone and you have bought it in the past year, it is covered under warrenty. When mine loads it will start with a white screen before it goes to my pic on the main page. Did you try setting the background on the main page, change the wallpaper and theme, if nothing works, like I said take it back if it is still under warrenty.
